My twin brother Stephen and I had been in Cologne for the week to visit the great brewpubs and Christmas markets in that vibrant city and to finish off our holiday we were staying in Dusseldorf for three days and our choice of hotel namely Kastens Hotel could not have been a better choice. Greeted warmly by a very pleasant receptionist who spoke great English,we were allocated a beautiful room on the top floor,the room was big,2 big single beds which were super comfortable,a flat screen TV ,lots of storage space,a very good and powerful shower in a spotlessly clean bathroom complete with shower gels and soaps,hair dryer and a lovely light decorative scheme,as a great bonus the free wi fi was quick and came in very handy. The breakfast here was superb with a great mix of hot and cold choices on offer in a superb looking dining room,hot and cold drinks with the coffee being particularly delicious,as we were here over the Christmas period Germany's Christmas cake Stollen was on offer not just at breakfast but all day at the all day free tea and coffee facilities in the reception area,this was the first time I've tried Stollen which was totally delicious. We really enjoyed our three days in here and when we are back in Dusseldorf next year we are staying in no other hotel. The Kastens Hotel is really easy to locate on Juergensplatz ,we arrived from Cologne to Dusseldorf by train and from the main Hauptbahnhof we jumped tram number 708 to stop Polizeiprasidium which drops you off facing the hotel. The location could not be better,it's an easy short walk to the Dusseldorf Prominade and the Altstadt ( Old Town ). This is a great hotel and if your planning a holiday to Dusseldorf one I highly recommend you stay in as it's such a nice hotel.

    What was good

    Good location, very nice and helpful staff, clean hotel, nice rooms and clean bathrooms

    What was bad

    There is no refrigerator to keep food and water cooled, and there is no aircondition, breakfast is little and fried eggs only with pork is served upon request and the types of breads are few and there are no pastries, the level of the hotel is four stars, but it is only three stars I think
