We booked a 3 days/2 nights formula, my wife and a couple of friends.  The 4 of us got a wonderful stay. All was perfect starting from our welcome to the check out. The room were amazing with a balcony and great view. A lot of details and attention as a sewing set or apples on the table as well as possibility to warm a coffee or tea. A big modern shower, pre warm bathroom, comfortable bed and of course impeccable cleanliness. After a drink and salad (included every day to 4pm), we went to the spa that is at the same high level that the room.  Possibility of an Auffgus every day ! The diner and services was also very nice and of high quality.  Finally the breakfast is huge with so many choices at the different buffet (cold, warm, vegetables, meat, eggs cook "a la minute", juices (also fresh made), .....
Really an address to recommend if you want to enjoy an unforgettable stay; Personally we have already booked our next stay for winter time with hopefully some snow to get the view and the external pool even more magic.

Unforgettable and perfect stay

Booked a family suite with 2 rooms for adults 
The second room was 2,5x2,5 m large 1 bed 1 cabinet
No desk,no table,no chair,the window opened on the half bed.
Asking the manager for another choice next time,he lost his temper and shouted at me,nothing to change,so it is and that’all.
4 stars hotel,child room,no sorry,

Don’t stay in a famil room if 3 adults

What is there not to like. The hotel is situated in breathtaking landscape in the Black Forest. Our apartment Rotkehlchen was spacious and spotless. We enjoyed the excellent food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all part of the room rate. If you enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner, try one of the regional wines on the wine list. 
Staff is very friendly and have an eye for detail. Everything is aimed at making the guests’ life as carefree as possible. After a week in Auerhahn you return home totally revitalized and relaxed.

Beyond expectations

We visited Forsthaus Auerhahn for the first time in August with our 1,5 year-old. We spent 6 days there. It was an excellent choice - we found ourselves in the middle of nature, forest, clean air, surrounded by friendly guests and hosts. We spent our time using the spa facilities (mostly pools), hiking around, and visiting the nearby towns (Baiersbronn, Freuedenstadt, Baden-Baden). The organisation at the place is impressive and there is something for everyone to do. You are welcomed each morning at breakfast with a 4-page daily paper, listing recommended activities for the day, weather, etc. 
Apart from the scenery, we very much enjoyed the food. Breakfast and lunch come in the form of a tasty buffet, but the real treat was the dinner - a five-course meal that you choose yourself at breakfast, selecting from several delicious options. The restaurant, reception and housekeeping staff were incredibly welcoming and kind.

A warning for first-time visitors: respect the speed limit as you approach the Forsthaus. We drove slightly over the 30 km/h limit in a town nearby and were flashed two times by a radar. Still waiting to see if the fines arrive.

Despite travelling as a family, we weren't looking for a 'family hotel' as those are just not for us. We prefer something calmer, less crowded and hectic. Still, we appreciated the content for children, such as the playground, bunnies, toy cars and family pool are. We didn't end up using the playroom as it was a bit small and we're still in the middle of the pandemic. The children's playground could use some maintenance as well as the toy cars.

Friendly place to unwind and enjoy

Stayed 5 nights with our nearly 5 year old daughter.

This is a lovely family run hotel. Rooms were very comfortable and the property maintained to a high standard. Pools are great (if a little cold) with a separate pool for kids to play in. 

Lots of relaxation areas too which are kid free. A small gripe but there are few staff in the pool areas and some guests had left their children to their own devices in the pool areas, perhaps a cultural thing but I felt uncomfortable at times being the only adult on hand while young children catapulted themselves into the pool!

Location is away from it all - it’s a 10k winding road to get to the nearest village, so feels a bit like a retreat, but means going anywhere is a bit of an effort. But great for hiking.

Food is plentiful and good quality. Most staff we encountered were helpful and friendly and some but not all spoke English.

There is a small play area for children and a couple of games rooms (one for younger/one for older children). Also some rabbits which the children can play with - though we felt sorry for them as they had no outdoor space.

All in all we had a great time and would recommend for relaxation but it was a bit too remote for getting out and about.

Lovely hotel away from it all

My husband and I stayed here for four nights with German friends and we had a wonderful time. The environment, the room, the food, the service and all the little extras made it a memorable stay. The attention to detail is truly remarkable.  
We will surely come back here.

Memorable Stay

We stayed two nights here.  It was excellent.  The resort is at the end of a long road and very remote and tranquil.  It is set amid a beautiful valley in the Black Forest at the foot of the Hornisgrinde and related small mountains.  It is a haven for good food, good company, relaxation, natural beauty and good company.   The resort implements fixed tables for your stay for breakfast and dinner.  This is excellent as you have a chance to get to know fellow guests and really enhances the time.  The food is very generous and very good.  We did a major hike to the top of the Hornisgrinde with a great view across the Rhine Valley towards Alsace and then back for pool time and just relaxing in the sun followed by an amazing dinner.  Definitely a great place to stay for those wanting to get in tune with nature in the Black Forest.

A Wonderful Haven in the Woods

Hotel located high above valley with excellent views. The rooms are a good size with beautiful balconies for relaxing or viewing. Staff very friendly and accommodating providing information of walks in local area.

Lovely hotel with excellent views

Hands down, this is my favorite hotel in all of Europe.  It takes a little effort to get there, but once you are there, you will want for nothing!  I honestly don't even know where to begin - the genuine warmth of the staff, the incredible wellness facilities, the outstanding food, the beautiful setting right in the middle of the Black Forest, the accessibility of trails - I could go on and on.  They get very few American visitors but I'm not sure why not since many of the staff speak English and they are happy to help you translate the signs and the menu.  

All of the staff couldn't be more welcoming and gracious.  We especially bonded with one of our regular waiters, Marco.  He patiently went through the menu answering our questions and explaining how everything worked.  You are given the same table for your stay which we really liked, and during the sumptuous buffet breakfast, you choose your selections for dinner. There is an afternoon "vitality buffet" which is certainly substantial enough for lunch.  The food is AMAZING - I will be dreaming of those meals for a long time to come!  And then the different wellness options - saunas, pools, reclining beds overlooking the forest - you can't help but feel completely relaxed.  We did several wonderful and long hikes - it is very special to be able to hike into the Black Forest without driving anywhere.  

If you are interested in a true German wellness holiday, look no further - this is it.

A dream of a hotel

We came here the first time in 1999 and came back for years, for our honeymoon, with our firstborn, and later with our two sons... we saw the hotel groing bigger but even stil, it stays A very personal familie hotel. We love the food, the swimlingpool, the sauna and of course... the black forest ! Even our kids (14 and 16) Ask to relax here. You can go for long walkes, get A massage or go for A bike ride.. they ‘ve got e bikes now wich our sons enjoyed very much.
We really love this place, the rooms are so Nice and clean, and the hotelmanagment does everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Most of the staff can conversate in english what wasnt possible A few years ago.
The hotel does make sure that old rooms are renovated and kept very modern and clean. 
The only thing that I really missed is the Nescafé in the room... that was something that was There for many years.. but If that is the only thing, I think we can t complain 😀
