We had a fabulous time here and Jocelyn was the perfect host.   Right in the center of St. Remy yet we felt we were in the countryside, surrounded by a beautiful house and gardens. The breakfast was lovely and enough to feed the 5000 !!
The experience at breakfast each morning was fantastic as we dined with our host and a German couple who were great company. You would not get this in a hotel.
We wil definately be staying there again in the near future and would recommend this charming place to anyone.

a gem in Saint Remy

Great Little B&B. we stayed for three nights over Easter. Clean and very nice hosts. The lady made a great breakfast every morning - pancakes for the kids one morning and eggs at your liking. She also helped us organise our days and gave suggestions of what to visit and had brochures for all the touristy things to see. She also gave good restaurant tips. Clean and nicely decorated rooms.

Lovely couple, clean and great location

I stayed at le Cigale in September 2015 as a solo traveller. The house is charming, with a lovely garden and pool, and yet in the Centre of St. Remy. My bedroom was beautifully appointed with a view over the large, well kept garden and pool. This is a genuine home, with a warm, artistic ambience, Jocelyn and Hubert were the perfect hosts, and were so helpful in every way. Breakfast was great-especially Jocelyn's home made jams!

Lovely and so central

The pros: The location is great: near town, but quiet. There is onsite parking, the garden is lovely, and the breakfast is plentiful. The price is very affordable.

The cons: The garden room where we stayed is overcrowded, we were charged more than the price we were quoted, and the exterior bathroom is a depressing little room with a shower head over the toilet.

The garden room is little more than a storage room with a bed. It is crammed with the owners' belongings. The surface spaces are cluttered with knick knacks, the cabinet completely stuffed, and the closet so full that only a small space remains for guests to use. The sliding glass door does not have a fitted screen, so we had to choose between a stuffy room without mosquitoes, or fresh air with mosquitoes. 

We had originally been quoted a rate of 60 euros per night for the garden room, but when we asked for the bill, we were charged 75 euros a night. We asked Hubert about this change, and he insisted that the room was 75/night and even gave us an itemized bill so stating. We had originally booked for 5 nights, but we only stayed 2 nights (I broke my foot just prior to arrival and had difficulty navigating the property, especially getting to the bathroom at night in total darkness). If we had been charged an early departure fee, I wouldn't complain, but to change the room rate without notice was a sour note on which to conclude our visit.

Not what we expected

What a wonderful chambre d'hote this is!  My husband and I had 8 nights here in the Orientale room which was beautiful and we particularly loved having our own private patio.  We relaxed in the lovely pool and stunning garden on most days.  Jocelyn and Hubert are extremely friendly and charming hosts and always ensured we had everything we needed.  We made full use of the summer kitchen and particularly liked the fact that the pretty town of St Remy is literally on your doorstep.  I can only describe La Cigale et la Fourmi as a heavenly oasis.  We were very sad to leave and will definitely visit again.
