Two nights in Les Foulons for a road-weary couple like us in pure comfort, warmth and relaxation was so heart warming it felt as though being soaked in a warm bath.
We had decided to hit the road a day before New Year’s Eve to get as close to home as possible after a 5-day road trip to and around Italy, and we needed a place for the night somewhere near Calais or Dunkerque. That is how we discovered Les Foulon and it turned out to be the ideal resting place for us smack in the middle of Douai, in the north of France. Both the town and the B&B were very peaceful and quiet both night we spent there (including New Year’s Eve), and we got to meet the most wonderful hosts any road traveller could ever ask for. Bernard and Dominique are simply amazing. They are graceful, kind, sweet, hospitable, generous, yet very professional. 
Although our initial plan had been to spend one night, it was so cosy in B&B Les Foulons and in Douai as a whole, and we felt so at home that we ended up staying another night. The room was breathtaking, warm and very clean. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was spacious with a big head.  The entire house was indeed magnificent. Breakfast was fantastic (included in the price) and we had an exquisite dinner at a Chinese restaurant, Au Gourmet D’indochine, 5 minutes walk from the B&B.
We left the day after feeling well-rested and carried with us in our hearts the warmth and affection we received from Bernard and Dominique. We’re definitely going back for the Easter break and this time it will be for much more than two nights.
Thanks Bernard and Dominique for being so authentic and for providing us with two nights of uninterrupted peace and comfort and inspiring so much pleasure and admiration.

Les Foulons? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

The hotel is essentially a converted house, with each room finished to a very high standard. The rooms are well equipped, and extremely clean. The WiFi was reliable and I could not find any fault with the rooms.
The breakfast supplied was typically French, assorted breads and pasteries, along with fruit and a selection of cheese. Very tasty, and well prepared.
The hosts went VERY out of their way to cater for us, and were a very nice pleasant couple with a good knowledge of English. 
The location is on a quiet street, near the centre of Douai, and near to some lovely restaurants which serve lovely food. It is also a cheap taxi (5 Euro) to the station with good links to Lille.

Only words of warning, they do have a small (lovely and well behaved) dog and a cat which roam the downstairs. So if you have allergies, it could be an issue.

I would highly recommend.

Lovely Place!

This is a charming old property situated in old town. 
We were greeted on the pavement by our hostess and her husband guided my husband into a free parking space opposite. 
The room was clean and welcoming though we were unable to lock the door. 
Breakfast was served in our hosts kitchen and was plentiful and a lovely opportunity to chat with our fellow guests.
There is a pleasant rear garden where we were provided with coffee. 
Our last day was my Birthday and on leaving our hostess presented me with a delightful Matisse print, it was a wonderful and unexpected gesture. 
Checkout was unhurried and we felt as if we were leaving friends. 

What a lovely couple! 

Beautiful accommodation.  Very quiet.  Stylish rooms and very comfortable.  Breakfast was lovely.  Spotless.  A very nice place to stay.  Strongly recommend.  Owners very helpful.  Parking easy.  Centre of Douai so perfect for visiting the town.

A One Night Stay in Douai

The BnB is nicely situated, close walk to many attractions. The hosts Bernard and Dominique are welcoming, and will do their best to accommodate their guests, from breakfast time to restaurant and attractions suggestions. Their breakfast filled me up until supper time, with delicious daily fresh bread and croissants, cheese, ham, and Dominique's infamous homemade jam ! along with fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee, and I am a happy girl ! This place is so much more charming than a regular hotel room, it allowed an experience unlike any other ! Highly recommended !
