16 reviewsIf you want to be off the beaten path and still have a delightful place to stay, this might be the hotel for you. We stayed at this property for just one night on August 6, 2016 and could not have been happier. We wished later that we would have planned several days here in Banos. We didn't have time to experience much with the hotel but the setting was charming. We got in rather late as our drive from Cuenca had taken longer than we expected. Be aware that the property is not easy to find...we ended up stopping at a restaurant in Banos itself, calling the hotel, and asking them to come for us, which they were happy to do. It is WAY up the mountain but worth it in our opinion. We were tired when we arrived and one of the staff built a fire in the fireplace for us in our room...sleeping to a fire is so cozy. The next morning, we awakened early to a rooster crowing and we got up to go to the hot mineral baths around 6:00 a.m. We really enjoyed that experience along with the cold plunge of the waterfall, and 30 minute massages for $10. We didn't have a chance to eat at Las Orquideas but we did enjoy the short stay and the beautiful views!
