I stayed at Villa Diana with family—eight of us in all—in July of 2023 for three nights.  It’s a terrific boutique hotel located right along the shores of Cikat Bay in Mali Losinj. Just a few steps off the back dining area and you are in the water, a lovely and easily accessible inlet. Great bay views from most rooms and, of course, from the dining area.  

In terms of location, it’s well outside the heart of Mali Losinj . . . and while you could walk to the town center in 25 minutes or so, you’ll likely want to drive in if you want to walk and dine at the harbor.  That said, there are a number of dining options within walking distance.  However, we opted to dine at the hotel all three nights.  Solid steak house . . . I’d recommend the veal chop and don’t miss out on the excellent potatoes gratin.  The beef carpaccio for an appetizer was also outstanding.  And the linguini aglio e olio with shrimp is a must . . . one of the best pasta dishes I had on our three week stay in Croatia.

They provide an outstanding complimentary breakfast, excellent croissants and rolls, fresh fruit and meats, and eggs made to order.  

The rooms are spacious and warm—and I would guess (but am not sure) recently renovated.  While the rooms are not inexpensive . . . they certainly deliver for the value: Well air conditioned, good pillows and coverings, beach towels, abundant closet space, and overall good amenities.  Just a quality room, and I was lucky enough to get the one with the balcony, which afforded an even better view of the days and nights.

The staff is excellent—very friendly and attentive, with a kind smile and laugh.  Always at the ready with another cup of coffee or to send another glass of wine or beer your way.  The make a terrific Negroni, which they barrel age themselves, and also an outstanding gin and tonic (so my fellow travelers declared).  

It was the perfect place to stay and wind down on the final three days of our trip to Croatia—beautiful and tranquil.  This is really a hidden gem . . . and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here should I come this way again.

Once last word of advice . . . it only has nine rooms, I believe.  So make your reservations early.  We made ours in February or so, which was vital as we booked five rooms in all.  

Excellent Boutique Hotel off Cikat Bay

We loved our time at Villa Diana. We had a lovely apartment that looked out to the incredibly picturesque bay and it was just what we needed. A few steps from a gorgeous little beach with the crystal clear aquamarine water Croatia is renown for. It's set amongst the pine trees, is not super-modern but didn't have to be as it suited us well. Scrupulously clean apartment too (as most places we stayed at in Croatia were). Make sure you go for the breakfast as it was fantastic - all freshly made on premises and absolutely delicious. We were 2 adults and a child and we loved the lazy summer days of enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the morning, followed by swimming in the beautiful sea and lazing on the deck chairs available at the beach, before a sunset drink, dinner and stroll along the sea in the evenings. There was also a good hydrofoil connecting this island directly with Zadar, which was very convenient. The town of Mali Losinj is about a 20 minute walk from the apartment.

Total relaxation amongst natural beauty!

Hotel is basically nice located & directly in front of a beautiful beach. Staff is nice, friendly & always helpful. It takes a while to get the order & you patience is asked. Restaurant advertises with dry aged steaks but rather average. Not necessarily worth a visit for a steak. The rooms are clean but not up-to-date anymore. All this does not justify the price. Unfortunately this was our first & last time at Villa Diana.. 

Island Trip

This 9 room villa / hotel is located close to the sea in pine woods in the Cicat area. When compared to the centre of Mali Losinj in July, it is heaven. Our bedroom was really a suite with a separate lounge including a second TV. Interestingly, an empty refrigerator rather than a minibar was provided, exactly what we always hope for.
The Diana has a highly reputable restaurant which specialises in local style Croatian cooking and meat matured in a controlled environment. We ate in the Diana's restaurant on 4 nights out of our 5 night stay, very unusual for us.
The final element which makes this place really special.is the staff who are humorous and philosophical in addition to being competent , kind and helpful.
Since nothing is perfect, the imperfections, which we willingly forgave, were the absence of a lift, tree roots have made the block paving dangerously uneven in places and beach towels were not provided - unusual for a 4 star.

Works well

Very good fish, service was proffesional, We've tried Gilt-head bream on grill with potatoes and swiss chard. Very well made. Location is very nice by the sea and not long way from the pear where we left our boat.

Pleasant place

We have been at the villa Diana just for a short stop. The location is very clean, people very friendly and breakfast just great.  We can very much recommend the stay of some days at Villa Diana. Rooms are big and all, more or less, the same. Villa Diana is well located.

Very good restaurant on the seaside with a nice view on Cikat bay. Fresh fish and very good pasta, marvellous sweets! 
If you want to taste a good lunch during you beach time, Villa Diana is a very good choice
