Lovely location south of busy Puerto Viejo. This is a lodge in the middle of the forest and having a car is important to getting there and then out to eat and to the beach. Hosts Luis and Sophie are friendly and helpful - Luis met us outside each night to help us see wild life. Mosquitos are plentiful but that's to be expected. Window screens would be helpful and we were glad we brought bug spray! The animals we saw were amazing, including our morning gecko visitors who shared our tasty breakfasts. Highly recommend El Refugio for dinner and hiking along Punta Uva beach. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
