Large room. The housekeeping standard is average. i find it odd that they kept replacing my towels despite them being hung up. Wifi was only good enough for watsapp. For surfing and working, it was challenging! I was a little disappointed that no staff could speak English at the reception. The breakfast selection wasn't fantastic but still okay. For the price, it is pretty decent. the room size is a plus point!

Large room!

I had the choice of this hotel and another one next to it, but as I wanted to use my credit card I settled for the Westin (Xiyi is the Chinese name used). They assured me they would accept the card but I am glad I had them test it out first because no matter what they did, it did not work. I called my credit card provider and they confirmed they were able to see a transaction was being attempted but said it was the hotel rejecting the card. I guess they only wanted cash. This is appaling since Westin is an international hotel chain. That is the reason for the one star review.

No foreign cards accepted

This is a business like hotel that you get in and out without a second thought. The rooms are of fairly high standard and quite spacious. The location is fairly central and could be near to where you want to go. There is good connection to the airport (regular buses and taxi) just outside the hotel.
The breakfast buffet is surprisingly poor for a hotel of such standard. During my first stay there I had diarrhea after the breakfast. I suspect the food to avoid is the "fresh" salad. My second stay was ok.

Business in and out

After the smog of Beijing, Kunming was literally a breath of fresh air and this hotel Westin style accommodation at Red Roof prices, to put it in US terms. Everything new. Everything works. Robes and slippers. Zoomy lights. Meatlocker AC. Spotless bathroom with all the amenities. Treat yourself, it's not always this way in China.

International level hotel at a great price for that tier.

The main reason for staying at this hotel was because the airport bus is stopping right below the hotel. As were were arriving in Kunming from Shangrila and then departing Kunming from the Kunming airport, we decided it is easier to stay in this hotel with the convenient airport bus.

We booked the deluxe room via the Chinese Ctrip website and it was more than 500 yuan so the room rate is not considered cheap but we were satisfied with the deluxe room; very new and the bed and pillow comfortable, ample hot water for shower or bath, working aircon/heating.

Breakfast included in the room rate was average like what other reviewers mentioned; typical Chinese breakfast with porridge, noodle, buns, pickles, etc, enough to fill your stomach, nothing more and the staff were hesitating whether they should stop me from taking photo of the average food selection in case i published the photo online :p

Stayed only 1 night so did not really had much experience with any other stuffs that may be available in the hotel or surrounding.
