My sister and I went to Parador Austral Lodge for almost a week on December. We were looking for a quiet peaceful piece of nature land with beautiful sightseeing, and we totally found it there! The region is full of amazing mountains and lakes in between which makes a road trip breathless!!! The Hacienda tres Lagos is another property (very close to the Lodge) which also attend the Parador’s guests, and also had lovely services, good food (we had breakfast and dinner) which was pretty good. The dinner is a bit expensive, but as the place is so distance from everything we were expecting that! The views from the Hacienda to the Lago Negro is so beautiful so it worth it spending a little more on the food. All the staff were so nice, friendly and helpful at all the time. They attended us every time we need. A special thanks for Pablo and Lucas who helped me with the fireplace in our room (it’s not that’s easy to make fire!! Haha). Back on the Parador... the room is cozy and rustic, the beds are very comfortable, and we have a fantastic view to the Lago Negro as well (now from the top).  the shower... OMG the shower is just soooo nice! Huge and hot, perfect after the cold wind outside! We had kayaking, bicycle and breakfast included on the price and we booked horse hide with Ilario which was fantastic up to the mont close to the property! We absolutely love everything and totally recommend it!! We suggest you take snacks, extra food and drinks with you, and also fill up the tank of your car every time you find a little village which have those amenities, as the distance to find another “urban area” is very far away.

if you coming for a luxury treatment - not the place. But if you are coming to experience the last remaining wastness and beauty of the untouched patagonia - this is your paradise. Your morings will see woodpackers wrecking cabin's window, hare backing in the quite of the early morning, wild geese stralling by the lake and more. Parador is a simpler version of the Los Tres Lagos just a 5 min walk down to the lake - same owner. it is a mountain cabin style, modern but simple interior, your windows looking at Lago Nero. This is not a Val d'Isere or Aspen, but personally i found nature far more stunning!
Breakfast is simple - cereal, eggs, cheese, youghurt, toast and jams. Please note, this is not the part of patagonia easily provided by fruits and veggies. Look at the map for where they are cultivated and do your math how long and how much it makes to get them this far. They try to work with local farmers but choices and season are short. But what you have is a great selection of Chilean wines and Los Lagos restaurant very good with fish and meat dishes for dinner (did not have breakfast there). Also, some staff speak English (and even those who dont will go out of their way try to help you). There are several hikes from the cabins to enjoy the 3 lakes (and the views are stunning!). You are also 40min from puarto tranquille - water activities and san rafael glacier trips; as well as 1.5h driving to the newly created Patagonia National Park - it is a must visit as not even the National Geographic can reproduce the views and animals you will see. So if you are not coming here for the unbelievable nature and quite to disconnect from your iPhone, why bother? This is the last unpopulated Patagonia to be enjoyed.  (hence it is not about the luxury).

great mountain cabins fantastic location - this is a Patagonia experience, not lux hotel

We booked a stay at Hacienda Tres Lagos. However, Tres Lagos was closed for the season. Parador Austral is on the same property and under the same ownership, so we stayed there. The room was beautiful. We had large windows and patio with a view to the lake. The staff was also exceptionally nice. Everything was clean and well maintained. It's expensive for what it is, but it's beautiful and we were on our honeymoon so we decided to splurge. 

It was great to be in such a beautiful, remote environment. However, things were advertised that were not available. Wifi is not available at Parador Austral (but can be accessed outside the Tres Lagos rooms). Also, the extras like massages and excursions that are advertised were never offered to us. Lastly, the food. Quality food in the very remote party of northern patagonia is limited. That being said, the food offered at the hotel is fine, if not a bit overpriced. Breakfast in included in the room and is fine. Dinner is not and is expensive for not particularly good food.

Beautifully remote, lacks what's advertised

Well this place is really hard to rate, and I will be doing two write-up’s for both the Hacienda Tres Lagos and the Parador Austral. They are in the same complex. When I wanted to book the Hacienda (was recommended in the Bradt guide) I was redirected to the Parador website. Not sure why but found out when I got here. The Hacienda is closed fort he season, apparently for major renovation work (although I did not see much being done). For New Year’s Eve holiday – due to too many bookings ant the Parador – they closed the Parador and moved all guests into the Hacienda, which was a really nice upgrade (got a big room with full front windows overlooking the lake). All that was a really nice treat. However the common rooms at the Hacienda felt very abandoned and lacked warmth. It’s a really nice place but most things like massages, whirlpool, excursions and the cafe were closed. I did not quite sign up for that and that was very disappointing. Also the WiFi was only available at the Parador and that meant to walk up and sit outside to check up on mails and such. In sun or rain! The restaurant was only open for dinner, although the staff was around all day. It would have been nice to have a bar or cafe where you could get some snacks and little plates like a salad, soup and/or a cheese plate during the day (not such a complicated feat the accomplish I believe). They did though give me some bread to keep me from starving! There is practically no choice nearby. It would also have been nice to have a choice for the main course at the dinner. The just served a fixed three course dinner (and I never knew how much they cahrges, only when I got the check-out bill) and when one wanted to change something is was not really possible as they had no other food on site! It is really a shame because the location is really nice, the room rather spectacular but it feels very run down and lacks professional management. It has so much potential, hope they fix it up not just on the outside but also on personnel and service. Would really be a pitty to let such a gem go to waste. The personnel is very friendly and tries to make up for a lot of things. So I’m not quite ruling it out to stay here again on another trip on the Carretera Austral. There is unfortunaltey not much choice.

Quaint location overlooking the Lago Negro

We booked two rooms for a night at Parador Austral. Don't get me wrong, the location is beautiful and the views of the lake are unbeatable. They have great amenities like fishing, kayaking on the lake, saunas and even a jacuzzi. You do need to give them 6 hours advanced notice if you want to use the wood fire-heated jacuzzi though (something they don't tell you anywhere). What was really disappointing about this place though was the standard of the rooms. The walls are paper thin and there are gaps in the walls between rooms. Our neighbour's alarm going off literally sounded like it was right next to my ear. In addition, the bathroom tiles in the shower were cracked with water seeping underneath them and there was hair all over the shower. Dinner at the Hacienda Tres Lagos is also not recommended: it's way overpriced, portions are small, and the food rather insipid. Service at the reception at Parador Austral was almost non-existent too and one has to almost always walk down the hill to the Hacienda Tres Lagos reception. I won't be going back to Parador Austral in a hurry.

Great views, but accommodation in serious need of renovations

Breakfast is a buffet (in the middle of a pandemic) and people serve themselves freely. The attendant was wearing her mask under her chin and systematically replaces the service utensils (without gloves) after each customer (the utensils are therefore handled by everyone and freely – without disinfection). The food is in the open air and the children walk around without masks and touch everything. I did discuss the subject with the owner and he did not give a damn.

In the evening, we had dinner at the Hacienda – lousy service, lousy food and a ridiculously expensive bill ($125USD). The salmon had the same texture as a concrete - waitress says she was sorry about that and did not offer to replace it. In the kitchen, wearing a mask seems optional. Definitely a place that I do not recommend at all.

Very nice property but very lousy COVID protocols

We had booked 3 nights in parador austral lodge. When we arrived, the staff wanted to place us Hacienda Tres Lagos, which is located on the same location. Les Tres Lagos is a hotel in poor condition, it looks old and seems not maintained. We did not accept this and finally got a cabin in the parador lodge. This is newer but also no great quality: very thin walls, we could here the neighbours speak and walk in the next room. The food offered in the evening is low quality and very overpriced. Therefore we the second and third evening we visited other restaurants. This was by far the poorest location we visited during our chili trip. A pity because the nature in this area is beautifull.
