The location was really good for the price.  We used the metro bus for all our trips into the downtown because the stops for the trips in and home are right in front of the hotel and the bus route is a straight direct route taking about 15 minutes.  Rooms were clean and  well stocked with towels and supplies.  Our room had a little kitchenette that also had everything we needed for breakfasts in before heading out for the day.  There are some wonderful neighbourhood restaurants nearby.  We enjoyed our stay.

Great location for the price

By far not a luxury hotel, however, the staff was fantastic, breakfast cheap (very basic), and the location was great.  Although we didn’t take advantage of it, there is a bus stop right outside the door.  Loved that there is free parking. Room was very large and had all we needed.  Would recommend for a short visit while in Quebec City, as it is cheaper than staying in old Quebec but you are still close enough. The only complaint was the noisy air conditioner but didn’t bother us too much. The ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful and very pleasant.  They recommended a few things for us to do that ended up being so fantastic...glad we listened and took their advice because we had a wonderful time. 

Good Location

Hotel Auberge Michel Doyon is located about 45” - 1 hour walking to the Old Quebec City but it has Metro bus stops right in front of the hotel to the Old town for $CAD3.10/way so very convenient and no need to deal with driving and parking in the City which is a nightmare.  The the parking at the hotel is free. Some of the rooms are down in the basement with some stairs.  Rooms are cleaned and have AC.  We shared bathrooms with no problems for the first 2 nights. Last night when we were there, a big group of Chinese came in very late at night that was very noisy and took too long to relieve the bathrooms.  They clogged up one of the sinks so we were down to 1 bathroom for about 8-10 rooms.  It was a bit stressful to wait for available bathroom.  Luckily that we were leaving that morning.  The breakfast was basic coffee, milk, cereals, banana and some toasts.  The staff were very nice and helpful.  We think the price is very reasonable for the stay and location.  Overall, We really enjoyed staying there if not with the bathroom issue of a big group.

Nice and clean hostel 

Hotel Auberge Michel Doyon is conveniently located near major roads and a short drive away from Old Quebec. The complementary breakfast included all the essentials - cereal, toast, oatmeal, coffee and tea etc. It was a convenient place to sleep for the night on the way to New Brunswick. Free parking is very nice as well. The hotel is composed of few slightly older houses located next to each other. Our room was in the basement of the building right next to the one where the check-in counter and the breakfast room are located. Towels and toiletries are provided.

Although I knew ahead of time that my room was in the basement, the windows were not too big and room would be very tight for more than 2 people. One shared bathroom was not very clean, but the other one was fine. I am okay staying in older looking properties as long as they are kept clean. Therefore, I felt the price was overstated for the room and bathroom. Otherwise, it is okay for a good night sleep.

Free Parking and Conveniently Located near Old Quebec

My mother had booked a simple room. However when we got there the room was unusually small, extremely dark, unwelcoming, a dump in a basement corner. It did not look at all like the advertised pictures. Immediately we went to reception and informed them we weren't happy with the room and asked if there was anything that could be done. The receptionist, as well as another employee were helpful and trying to look for solutions, including finding a different room. However, when they contacted their manager (Anne) about the situation on the phone, she yelled at them, proceeding to tell them they would do no such thing and that a different room would come with an associated cost. The receptionist was trying to relay the information to us, clearly frazzled, so my mother proceeded to talk to Anne herself who yelled at my mother aggressively on the phone, telling her "what did she expect", that "she would have to pay for the room regardless if she chose to use it" and not offering any ways to resolve the situation. I had to take the phone as my mother was getting visibly uncomfortable from the yelling and immediately Anne proceeded to yell at me. Continuously agitated and lacking respect toward her customer, the manager threatened me at the end of our conversation, "you leave immediately and you will be reimbursed." While we are glad we got our money back we were disgusted at the customer service we experienced from this manager. While the room was one thing, it could easily have been resolved by some proper customer service, evident by the helpful assistance from both the receptionist and the other employee. However, the disrespect and lack of professionalism we experienced from this manager was unforgivable. If you are looking to have a relaxing stay during your trip to Quebec city, this is NOT the place to stay.

Most unprofessional and disrespectful manager ever

Drove there. When we got there. After 6 pm. No one is in the office. So we did nor know what to do. So we were lucky the office manager was still there. The room was beautifully made. Was close to an old church. The area a for hockey. There was breakfast for 2$. Free parking.some people that worked there refused to speak English. But most did. I would go back.
