Clean, nicely sized, friendly staff.  Not the prettiest of places, no communal area, but a good relatively cheap place to stay in an expensive area! Good access to beaches and town isn't far away, with food huts just a few minutes walk away (Although limited options if it's raining as seating is outdoors)

My family and I love Dolphin motel, right away you get greeted with the warmest smiles from the owners. The pillows are the fluffiest and comfiest, the rooms are clean and love all the beautiful flower trees and plants ...needed to stay longer and the owner was happy to accommodate us

Clean room and great owners. I stay here whenever I was out for a surf - walking distance to Chesterman and at a reasonable price. The Dolphin Motel fills the role of dependable and affordable accommodations for the Tofino area. This is a basic, clean accommodation that's priced accordingly and shouldn't be confused for the luxurious resorts in the area. If you're there for the outdoors and natural beauty of the area, then this motel is all you need.

We stayed one night at The Dolphin. Cheaper than most in Tofino area and cheerful, spotlessly clean, coffee maker and fridge provided, two really comfortable king size beds.
The owners let us leave our luggage first thing in the morning and for most of the next day after check out. They also sorted a taxi out for the airport. This meant we effectively added two days to the holiday on which we didn't have to trail around with our luggage. 
Great location with the famous Tacofino less than a minutes walk, also bike hire, surf lessons, morning coffee and bakery open from 7am. Chestermann beach is 5 mins walk and the free bus shuttle stop to Tofino is 1 min. You really don't need a car. 
Veronica is great, she made our stay. 
Don't be put off by looks, its a lovely little place!

Nothing too much trouble!

Yeah, you read the title right. If you’re the type of person that needs more than just a basic place to stay for a night or two; go ahead and pay $500/night at the Best Western (3-star hotel) down the road. There’s no point for you to check into the Dolphin Motel and pay what you are paying, just to complain about it being “old” or “tired” or “in need of renovations”. I have no affiliation with the Dolphin Motel other than just having stayed there. It quite honestly is probably the absolute cheapest place to stay in Tofino, especially on a summer long weekend.

Other than price; you most definitely get more than what you pay for. Our room had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, TV and Wi-Fi. Yes, it absolutely is not the prettiest place you can stay; but the owners are incredible and do not price gouge like all the other businesses (see Tofino Motel Harbourview [$339/night for a motel]). The room smelled old, but was otherwise tidy and had clean bedding. We have made a habit, nice hotel or not, to check for bugs, and we can happily say that we did not find any. Bathroom was very clean, and tub surround appeared to be new? 

Definitely not the place for everyone, especially not those that are looking for a luxury hotel; which this is not. (To the person that left a review saying it doesn’t have a “luggage holder”, what is wrong with you, did you also want room service for the price you’re paying?)

Owners are super helpful, nice and I have observed them tending to the bushes and sweeping the outside of the motel; signs that they clearly care about their property. Sure, it could use a “refresh”, after which I am sure the price per night would skyrocket to match all the other hoity-toity places in Tofino. Don’t stay here if you’re pretentious, just so you can complain about it later.

If you’re a pompous person, don’t stay here

This place was really gross - the sheets were not washed and had bugs in them. The owner threatened to call the cops when we complained and said that we would give a bad review. I would not recommend it to anyone, even if you are on a budget... I would much prefer camping or a hostel.

Owner doesn't care about customers or cleaning at all. Very gross.

My elderly mom and I stayed at the Dolphin Motel August 14-21. We were comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. Ours had a separate room and a kitchen/futon  area which was perfect for us. Veronica and Mark are lovely hosts who work very hard to keep their motel clean. We have stayed here many times over the years and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, comfortable place to stay with a great location and a reasonable price,

Affordable Tofino Accommodation Close to Beautiful Chesterman Beach

Booked a 2 bed room back in March 2021 for my sister and my August 3 day stay. Intuition told me to call ahead and check on my reservation. Good thing I did because I was told that my name phone number and CONFIRMATION NUMBER couldn't be found. Talk about a sleazy poor business practice. So disappointing! Do not stay here. Other reviews are pretty accurate as well. It is a very tired run down cheap motel.

Shoddy business

This place is absolutely disgusting.  I was in Tofino to visit my daughter and she had booked me a room at the Dolphin Motel.  $180 for one night which includes taxes.  At one point I washed my feet in the grub the. I stood on a hand towel and shuffled over to the bed.  The towel was brown and filthy when I arrived at the bed.  I saw the cleaning crew which consisted of a slovenly gentleman and the woman who checked us in.  There was no vacuum or a proper mop in view.  I seriously doubt the use of effective cleaning supplies.  When I arrived I had my small dog with me who was going to stay with my daughter.  I ran out to pick up supplies and left my daughter there with the dog.  The lady approached me upon my return and was mad about the dog there.  She said she would have to wash the bedcover because of the dog and she wanted to charge me extra.  What I heard is that if no dog stays overnight then she doesn’t wash the bedcover between guests.  Disgusting.  There is but a flimsy old worn out sheet and the flimsy cover which looked to be at least 20 years old.  I slept in my clothes and touched as little as possible.  
I’ve never stayed in such a dirty room in my life.

Basic motel. Friendly owner who greeted us wearing a mask, hand sanitizer for use to do paperwork. Small rooms. Room #11 was clean (pandemic bonus). Freshly painted bathroom. Can hear neighbouring suites conversations easily. Road noise is loud (bring earplugs). Room equipped with a tv, small clean fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, smoke alarm, towels, bath mat, water glasses, soap & shampoo. Bed was adequately comfortable, linens basic. Screens on windows, No luggage racks, no blow dryer. Chain lock for door. Picnic table in front of each room (can bring a small bbq and cook a meal if desired). 
This isn’t a fancy hotel, go elsewhere if that’s what you want. It’s old and tired and priced according for Tofino and it’s location to an amazing beach. It worked for a couple of nights and was a 10 minute walk to Chesterman beach. It is also a three minute walk to Tacofino, Wildside Grill, Tofitian coffee, Chocolate Tofino.
