We stayed here for 2 nights on a cross-country road-trip. It was definitely the best place we stayed! We’re so glad we stayed 2 nights. The rooms are spacious and comfortable! And so so clean! I loved the huge bathtub after a long day of walking around in the winter wonderland. Breakfast was amazing!  Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Wonderful stay

Arriving at the Howling Wolf on the 30th September we had not expected to be encountering heavy snowfall but the result was that we enjoyed a 3 night stay in an Autumn Winter Wonderland!  Howling Wolf is a beautifully appointed home and our bedroom - the Wolf Suite - and the other public areas are so comfortable, Karin & Matthias are very welcoming and attentive hosts and really helpful in providing information on what to do locally and where to eat. The property has wonderful views of the Rockies  in all directions and is so  conveniently placed for the beautiful walk along the river to and from the centre of Canmore which is a delightful town with great amenities. Just remember to be vigilant when walking back at night as you may bump into a family of elk walking down the street as we did! As other reviewers have commented Matthias's daily special is a highlight of breakfast and to be looked forward to each morning. Karin's extensive collection of memorabilia from her time with FIFA and Matthias's huge collection of small spirit bottles further enhance the whole Howling Wolf exeperience. Thank you Karin and Matthias for giving us a wonderful stay.

Autumn Winter Wonderland @ The Howling Wolf

My boyfriend and I went to the Howling Wolf a few years ago, and have been wanting to go back ever since. We finally went back this weekend for our 5 years anniversary. 

Everything was perfect, just like last time! Karin and Matthias run the B&B so perfectly, they will make you feel like you are at home. 

The place is extremly clean, and the bedrooms are very welcoming. They are very large and offer a nice relaxing area (with chairs and coffee/tea/snacks). There is parking right outside the house (uncovered). The house is conveniently located, only a few minutes walk from the Main Street. 

But the reason you'll come back is the breakfast: in addition to the traditional breakfast buffet, former Chef Matthias prepares a delicious different dish everyday. On Sunday we had poached eggs (delicious), and for me, as I do not like them, a delicious omelette. Don't miss it! 

Thank you again Karin and Matthias, we will be back for sure!

The best place to stay in Canmore!

We stayed for 3 nights in the Moose Suite and it was wonderful! Matt and Karin were very accommodating and attention was paid to every little detail. The daily breakfasts were of the highest quality and delicious. Matt is a terrific chef! The house is within walking distance to town, yet in a very quiet area. Highly recommend this BB. Can't thank Karin and Matt enough for their warm hospitality throughout our stay!

"Wonderful"

My stay was perfect. Matt and Karin are so accommodating and hospitable. Breakfast was amazing and Matt made one for me to go on the day that I left as it was so early. The room was well appointed and the bed and linens incredibly comfortable. The bathroom for the Bear Suite is not attached but they have arranged it in a way that is totally private. The house is walking distance to town and one of the most beautiful trails. Matt and Karin provided suggestions for places to walk and eat. Bicycles are available but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to use one. Hopefully next time.

Why would you want to stay anywhere else?

I stayed for two nights in the Moose Suite. The room was spotless, cozy and quiet, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The hot jacuzzi tub after a day of hiking or just wanting some relaxation time was ideal. The breakfasts were outstanding and professionally made! The hosts, could not have been more hospitable, pleasant and an absolute joy to have breakfast with. We all sit at one table together for breakfast, and there is also a common welcome area with a constant supply of water, juice, fruit, granola bars and cookies.

If you want to stay somewhere within easy walking distance of downtown Canmore, complete with parking, and that real mountain cabin feel - I can't recommend this B&B highly enough! I would certainly go back and next time with a bottle of wine to share with K&M ~

Exquisite!

Everything you would want in a small B&B.  Delicious  breakfast and great  morning conversation to spotlessly clean rooms. Centrally located just a short walk to downtown on a quiet street.  Everything you would want in a B&B.

Excellent B&B 

We were lucky enough to have a three night stay here in the Moose Suite, with our 11 year old daughter.  I really don't think you could ask for anything more from any accommodation. The room was absolutely beautifully decorated, very spacious with a huge bed! Very well equipped and our daughter particularly liked the  complimentary M&Ms!! Matt's breakfasts were amazing and there were snacks available throughout the day.  What an amazing start to our trip of the Rockies,  and better value than any hotel!!  Just a few minutes walk from the centre of Canmore,  which we also thoroughly enjoyed!
