BED BUGS!!!!
1. the dorms are dirty, especially bathrooms. We were moved to a private room the third night and there were bedbugs in our bed! 
2. The staff was friendly in the beginning, but when we experienced bed bugs in our room they would not give us a refund! 
3. Be aware of how much you are paying, we experienced several times that they said we had to pay more than what we ordered for. So be aware of how much money you order for! Check that you get back the right amount of money.

BED BUGS

Stayed at 19 Happy House for a few nights as I decided what to do in Cambodia. Private room was comfortable and the hostel is in a very central, and good location, walking distance from main sights and river.
Food was really good and nice area to sit in and watch Phnom Penh go by.
Staff were always friendly and helpful. Were able to help with suggestions of things to do and transportation. I feel like the staff can help with anything you need.
Had two trips to Phnom Penh and stayed at the same hostel the second time, due to the reliability of the staff and the great location.

Great stay in Phnom Penh

We have stayed in lots of hostels and this is by far the worst. I have never written a bad review, but I felt this needed to be written. Firstly the place stinks of what I can only describe as rat pee, it wasn’t a nice smell. We had booked a double private room, which when shown was humid, smelt damp and not to mention a heat trap! A fan was provided but did very little. The bathroom was dirty, very smelly and the shower was cold. We couldn’t sleep at all, waking up to the heat, we thought we were getting bitten by mosquitos and when we switched the light on, we were shocked to find BED BUGS!!!! Inside the pillows, on the mattress and one had made it into my Panama’s! I know it’s cheap and you want to save money, but it’s not worth it! 😂

The worst hostel, It’s cheap but for a big reason...

Definitely redefined my interpretation of the word 'Happy', I loved staying at 19 Happy Hostel. This is your living room to the city and a great base. The food is surprisingly good and their coffee is AMAZING. The manager is helpful, even when I accidentally tried to break into the wrong room when I was lost and my friend locked himself out of his room.

Your living room for the city

To start off I never lever leave reviews but this place really deserved one. I have lived in Asia on and off for almost ten years and this is by far the worst hostel I have ever been in. I understand you get what you pay for but the staff is horrible at best and no matter what act like you’re bothering them. On multiple occasions I had to convince them that I was a paying guest and to unlock my room or told to wait an hour for the manager to verify it. I also walked out of the room for a total of five minutes to grab some water while the cleaners were in the room and my headphones and charger went missing. When I asked the manager if he could ask the cleaners if they “found” them I was basically attacked verbally for asking the question, such a wonderful way to handle that situation. I couldn’t recommend avoiding this place at all costs any higher. Not sure how they are still even in business these people should not work with customers, plain and simple!

By far the worst hostel in a decade of travels

I definitely do NOT recomend this hostel to anyone. We arrived at the hostel at 11pm and were received by a semi-naked man (I guess it was the owner) that really seemed to be high on drugs. He was nice with us, but the situation was quite frightening. He asked us to pay the stay (2 nights) and didn't give any proof of the payment. Around, the light was mild and we could see spared dirty clothes. It seemed a bordel scene. We were took to our room... and it was disgusting! I barely could breath inside because they sprayed something strong-smelling to mask other smells. The room was not clean, the walls were dirty and the sheets had holes. We were soo disgusted and uncomfortable that we decided to lose the money we had spent and search for another hostel for that night.

RUN AWAY!

Stayed here for 2 nights and the staff was really helpful! We had a private double bed room, which was very hot because of no air-con but we got an extra fan when we asked for it. The staff was super-welcoming and helped us with whatever we asked about. The restaurant that belongs to the hostel also has good food. 

Great stay at 19 Happy House

Honestly this hostel is great, chill vibes and in the middle of everything this is my second time staying here. The rooms are nice and get cleaned daily. And the owner and everyone that works here they put so much effort into their work. Anyone that comes here would have a great time. Highly recommended 

Very lovely and homie 

Best backpacker hostel to find cheap but high quality service and rooms, the staff is super helpful, you'll find a pool table, places to chill, affordable restaurant with really nice local and western food, just a cool atmosphere all in all! Would definitely recommend for anybody! 

Most friendly and helpful place

Best place to get a cheap dorm, friendly staff and helpful boss.Locate on street 13 at Phsar Kandal 1 next to LS Travel Agency. Cheap dorm spend less and get the best out of your time in Cambodia, Everything can be found there.
