I give it a 5 because I had exactly what I wanted : being alone in nature with jungle views. The island itself is very calm and unique and you can rent a bicycle to cruise around the place. But on the property's side, maintenance and cleanliness should really improve. It was probably very nice when they first opened but the place is really run down. Overpriced for what you get in terms of quality. Khmer food was good. 

Nature

What a beautiful place and surroundings! The staff, especilly So, is always available to help and serve meals. We had a great time there! Only 3km from the boat, taxi scooters wait for you, just hop on and you'll be there in no time. Perfect place if you need to relax as no WIFI, beach is a short walk/bike ride and not over crowded! Beautiful sunset and sunrise.

Koh Trong lodge

It's so peaceful to rest in the many hammock. The really high ceiling house is very agreeable.

The breakfast is not included but within a ok price. The dinner was ok, beer a bit expensive.

They have a very limited number of bikes for rent ($2!!), so we had to go to the next hotel to rent some (at the same price).

Beautiful hotel on the Mekong island

A really lovely place, on the island of Koh Trong it is a little get away from the busy hustle, bustle and hawking. The bungalows are lovely, rustic and charming with comfortable beds, mosquito net, a sweet veranda and a desk and chair which was a nice touch. Electricity runs from 5pm to 10pm so have a headtorch on you to avoid stumbling about! Be prepared for an icy cold shower as there are no electric showers there! Very refreshing after a cycle round the island, even if it did involve some squealing!  

Food was very good here, if you don't like spice, make it very clear! I was struggling with a couple of the dishes that had not been as spicy elsewhere on my travels.

The island is lovely, we hired bikes for $2 from the guesthouse and road around all afternoon until watching the sunset on the opposite side of the island. 

we stopped off at a local yard where a family was sorting and trimming their crop of spring onions, the food was lovely and they were so friendly, telling us how to pronounce 'hello' 'goodbye' and 'thank you' properly! Elders seem to respect and respond to the traditional cambodian greeting and a bowed head. Development seems new here  and many locals are curious and want to talk to you, especially some of the children. 
(although a group of young girls did get a little too interested in my engagement ring at one point!) 

It was a last minute booking to stay here as we had left it a bit late, I definitely enjoyed it here, especially at a special time of year, but really it is very, very expensive, at $33 a night and food prices, it did sting our budget a bit!

a luxury stay for Christmas eve and Christmas day!

Such a gorgeous island and the guesthouse itself is very special. Unfortunately the accommodation wasn’t particularly clean neither was the dining area (tables, menus, crocks..) the young girl who seemed to be running the place singlehandedly was delightful and extremely helpful but things did break down on her day off when we had to wake the staff for breakfast. Would have been less disappointed if it hadn’t been quite expensive.

Beautiful place but disappointing stay

Lovely guesthouse on a lovely island, but a bit expensive for what it offers. 

The food especially was not great, and most dishes were double the usual price. 

I would recommend this guesthouse as long as you're aware of the price and the food being average (my fried rice and vegetables were covered in a sweet thick sauce which was not nice, gave me a stomach ache and I could not eat for 24 hours afterwards. Other dishes eaten beforehand were OK but not worth their price).
