Words cannot express how truly terrible this place is. You could get over how rundown the place is and how inedible the food is (it's budget after all), but the service is the worst I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Rude, agrresive, lazy bar and restaurant staff who are more concerned with having a good time themselves.

I saw one member of the bar staff tell a customer to go F himself after he complained his beer was warm. Oh by the way, they turn on the fridge at the start of serving which is why all drinks are warm. Cost saving at its best.

I saw the same bar member and a few of his cronies try to intimidate a man and woman who had the audacity to politely complain to their friend who works for one of the ferry companies (BUVA ferries I believe). I saw another similar incident a few days later (I had left for another hotel at this point - 2 nights was 2 too many) where the Ferry guy and the bar staff all started shouting at a customer who was asking for ferry information.

Shut the place down immediately or at least fire all your staff and start again!

Please avoid at all costs! This is at best a dangerous resort, with some of the worst people I have encountered in Cambodia running it. Genuinely, please do not stay here. This place needs to close and start again.

The worst service in the world

This is just too bad! 

1. We confirmed about the price, but they increased later on the same day. Then one man appeared in a very, very unprofessional manner [the owner?] telling us that we can move if we don't pay the new price they said. I have worked in the 5-star hotel & I never see such thing in my life.

2. The owner (?) & staff enjoyed the loud music until midnight. We were so annoyed as we wanted to take rest. They didn't care about the guests at all.

3. There was another group sleeping next to our room. They enjoyed food & drink on the beach. The worst thing is they didn't clear the empty cans & the left over food [I eyewitness that those flow back to the sea]. Buddha, the resort staff did not care about such ridiculous thing at all]. This is the environment for everyone & this must be well preserved as it is the real beauty of Cambodia.

4. They cut off the electricity at 11:30pm & we had to wait for about one hour before we decided to leave room and tell them to get us back the electricity. We have kids & no one can sleep without air/AC.

5. They cut off the electricity again at 5am until we leave at 11am. They never get it on even though we went to tell for a few more times.

I have no idea [I didn't ask] whether or not the man talking to us is the owner. If yes, I can tell your business won't go on that way. If not, the owner must find someone who is professional then you will make a lot of money from this very, very beautiful beach of the Koh Roung Sanloeum.

Terrible

Awful, awful pizza. No napkin or cutlery. Staff too busy with phones for customers. When (if?) you get your attention they really don't seem happy about it. Didn't apply happy hour discount. I'm sorry but too much is too much.

Restaurant Experience

Stayed in the tents on the beach here, just as you arrive on the island. Perfect setting and far enough away from the more lively accommodation/ bars. Thought they would have been hot but only during the day, at night they were fine.  Paid $35 per night. Only 2 big mattresses on the floor with pillow and blanket, a fan, light and electric socket. WiFi was hit and miss. Toilets and showers basic which you shared with customers and staff but only a short walk behind their restaurant which served good food at reasonable prices.

Tent on the beach

It's a great place. The bungalow is clean and cozy. Of all the options on the beach, this one matches the price and the quality.The carpet, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes were there. The water was brought every day. The bungalow was clean. The laundry was clean. The service was good. The bungalow was on the front line with air conditioning. It was very quiet around. There are no noisy cafes nearby. Next time we'll be back right here.

The bungalows are clean and cozy, and of all the options on the beach, this one's for the price and the quality.

The only thing they're interested in is being in front of the pier when the boat is (systematically) late. We had lunch there.

What to Avoid

Contrary to most reviews, we actually have quite a pleasant stay at Orchid Resort, maybe also because we did not have high expectations. It is located right at the pier where we alight from the speedboat from Sihanoukville.

Room and toilet were clean except that there is a sewage smell in the toilet, think there is no proper sewage on the island. Water pressure is weak too but I guess it is normal on the island. 

Booked snorkeling activities with Kamakazi (highly recommended in another review) and they are able to pick us up by boat directly at Orchid Resort.

The only complaint is their check out time is 11am which they did not inform us when we check in so we had assumed it is 12pm like most hotels. Had to rush when we went to request for late check out at 10.30am (after we woke up) since our ferry to sihanoukville is 3.30pm. They did not approve our late check out request but they agreed to extend our check out till 11.30am after we said we need more time.

Pleasant Stay At Orchid

The only advantage is that it's close to the landing point. For the rest: climate noise and mini bar... You cut off and there you start to hear the generator. Mosquitoes. WiFi more than capricious. TV not tested but seen the other reviews... Floor that's not flat at all. The beach view is beautiful, but the presence of decks and if you look the other way, it's worse. You're probably wondering why I slept there seeing all the other reviews, so the choice of organization is made on the spot without having access to the internet and with luggage.
