Positives: use of kitchen as you please, central location in the old city, cheap 

Negatives: quite rundown- it was wet rainy weather when we were there so several leaks throughout the hostel. Breakfast was limited - bread roll and banana. Lockers were broken. 

However the price is very backpacker friendly and you get what you pay for

Cheap hostel 

Paraty is a nice place to stay, so the hostel is in a very nice location in the historical centre. Even though the rooms are small and filled with beds, everyone has a chance to lock their things! BUT DONT FORGET TO BRING YOUR LOCK! People are usually nice, so you can keep it unlocked, too.

The bathrooms are simple, but clean and the staff is very friendly. You also have the chance to book tours to the waterfalls directly in the hostel.

Avoid unless you really don't care Or plan to be so inebriated that where you sleep simply doesn't matter. Staff seemed surprised when we left immediately after arriving, although friendly to be fair. Filthy, filthy beds (close to collapse), there was a dirty towel stuffed under my mattress and nowhere to store belongings. Lockers all broken. 

Walked in, walked straight out again.

Stayed in the 8 bed dorm. Definitely too many beds, not enough space to move around let alone put your bags somewhere that trip everyone up. Staff were ok-ish...seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than being particularly friendly or helpful. The whole "rasta" mantra that ran throughout place (jah graffitied everywhere, a reggae playlist on 24/7) felt fairly contrived. Breakfast was alright but all the food was left out for ages and seemingly took the whole to do the washing up. The garden was pretty nice actually and I enjoyed chilling in the hammock, and the location is pretty good for getting into the town and bus stop. Overall a very average hostel with some clear room for improvement but for the price I guess it will do for a thrifty traveller.

Pretty poor but cheap

This is one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in.

I arrived late in the evening and got told that the water wasn't working and they didn't know when it will be back on (I'm sure this isn't common but it was definitely annoying).
The rooms were right by the kitchen and the doors and windows opened onto this area so it was very noisy.

The room I stayed in was an 8 bedroom dorm, the room was way too small for 4 bunkbeds, there was no where to put your bags so I had to put it on my bed!
The light in the room didn't work, eventually they fixed it but only after I commented on it 3 times.
There was a fan in the corner of the room that did nothing so the room was boiling all night and even hotter when daylight came.
I have travelled for the last 4 years and this was the worst hostel I've been to in regards to the quality of the dorm rooms. 

The only good thing was that they refunded my money for the second night so I could leave first thing in the morning.
