I had high expectations in relation to this hotel since its the biggest and the closest to the main attraction in the city. The house itself is beautiful, but the lack of service disappoints. The room was dirty and the linen was missing. Although I was placed in a double bed room, the sheets were for a smaller bed and nothing matches, The breaksfast is awful. If only they serve pao de queijo and coffee and a piece of fruit...that would be enough, but the things they serve is just not edible. and they have no napkins. After returning from dinner, they locked the buidling and there was noone to open the door for us.  It feels like its abandoned. It has so much potencial!!!its a shame

High expectations

If you want a place to stay that is right in the heart of the greatest touristic attraction (the Prophets) this is the place to go. Comfy bed, average breakfast, top notch restaurant. There must be a more luxury hotel of course but this one is simple and it has a decent costumer service. I have no complains. 

Best price in the best place

I stayed for only one night at this Hotel. I chose this place because it was right beside the main attractions in Congonhas, MG – Brazil. I also wanted a place which in some way captured the atmosphere of the Brazilian colonial architecture. The hotel is big and well tended. The room was clean and the breakfast was really fine, no fancy stuff but where quantity and variety is concerned it was pretty good. The reader has to keep in mind that we’re talking about a hotel which costs around US$ 25.00 a head, per night with breakfast.  The hotel has a great restaurant and tavern called ‘Cova do Daniel’ on the ground level. I highly recommend the restaurant because the food is amazingly good mainly the ‘typical’ dish (feijão tropeiro) about US$ 25.00 and it is well enough for two.  I think you should give the Restaurant a try. So far so good, however, there is a big difference between old and antic. This place is old and instead of a reminiscence of the good old golden ages it is sort of depressive.  The towels were more like dishcloths, the room had no air conditioning, no fan, no fridge, the mattress and pillows were terrible. All this would have been just a “turn off” for me wouldn’t the place around the hotel have been so noisy during the night.  I didn’t expect much, notwithstanding being able to sleep after 10 p.m. is not asking for too much. By the way, the place was so loud I couldn’t hear the TV right. Yet I think that some of this noise came from the tavern and restaurant the very owner runs at ground level, right below the rooms. If you decide to stay at this hotel anyway, I might have been unlucky maybe, you should ask for a room not facing the street. They have rooms which have windows toward the inner areas which I guess offer better sleep quality. Yet, for little more, you can have rooms on the second store. These rooms on the second store are better equipped, I’ve been told.
