We stayed here over the Christmas and new year and had a great experience, Gerhard and his family were amazing. The food was great for the whole all of us and all the staff really made our family feel at home. We will definitely be staying again.

Great stay, with amazing owners and staff

Very nice host, lovely breakfast with warm baked fresh eggs, a clean room and easy access to the slopes. We had one of the smaller rooms but it had everything that we needed. Showers were warm and the bed slept great. Would definitely recommend to go here. 

Great Stay!

We love it here. Truly ski in-ski out,  and connected to the night skiing area so you can ski home even at 9pm. Palatial sauna, all rooms with stunning mountain views, fabulous and plentiful food, but best of all- a really intimate atmosphere. Gerhard and his family have been running Unterellmau for donkey's years and it feels like they're welcoming you into their home. There's a lovely relaxed, non-stuffy feeling, and nothing is too much trouble for them to accommodate. At the end, it really felt like I was saying goodbye to good friends, and promising to be back next year- which we definitely will!

Great location - ski in/out.  5 min walk to the center of town.  Great facilities.  Excellent staff.  Already booked to stay again.  Hotel facilities very good - large clean rooms, great breakfast and two saunas.

The perfect place to stay

The hotel is next to the ski slope, after taking the first lift you are ready to explore the perfect slopes. Room was perfect for our stay with 3 adults. The food was absolutely lovley. Breakfast had enough choice is fresh products and diner was superb with all fresh ingredients. Overall a perfect hotel to stay if you want to go skiing in the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

Perfect location, great food and fantastic atmosphere!

This is great little hotel. Gerhard is such a fantastic hot. Always helpful and friendly. Our kids loved him. Cleaning staff were great, friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean. Food was great too. Breakfast was big but dinners were just amazing. Every dinner was perfect. From entrees to main meals and desserts. Meat was done to perfection whether it was duck, pork or beef. On our last night they put up a buffet which was a meat feast. Too good. 

As for accommodation, don't expect a 5 star experience. It's a 3 star hotel. The rooms are small but big enough to fit a family with 2 small boys. We haven't used either indoor or "outdoor" sauna so can't comment on them. The only thing that I didn't like is the heaters were on a luke warm side which made it hard to try any wet clothes after skiing. But the hotel is in a great location. It's not in the centre of Hinterglemm which makes it nice and quiet. But it's still very convenient for skiing. You can ski out of it straight to the near by T-bar ski lift and there's a beautiful slope getting you right back to the hotel door.

Great hotel, great host, great food and great location!

We have just come back from a fantastic week at Hotel Unterellmau, the hotel is a true ski in ski out, in a quiet location. The hotel staff were amazing and were always happy to help. Gerhard was also always on hand to sort out any queries. Ski servicing was organised directly through the Hotel and our skis were waiting for us the next morning. Overall we can highly recommend this hotel and we will definatly be back.

Close to the Piste with fantastic food.

Hotel next to the ski-slopes of Hinterglemm - with bound ski's from and back to hotel. Superb location. Nice overview on village and surrounding mountains because of a slightly higher position on hill. Therefore good location to experience the quiet environment and nature. Still easy to reach the centre of the (nearby and lifely) village. Good rooms with all needed facilities. Friendly staff. Food quality at high level - clearly has a very good cook (the cook's day off was noticable :-)). A rich breakfast.

Perfect location in Ski-circus Saalbach-Hinterglemm

Nice and very friendly place to stay and easy to catch the skilifts and fee bus to go skiing. Lots of good food. New sauna and wellness to relax. The host and the stab are very friendly and we enjoyed the vacation there to come back again.

We spent the Easter Holidays in Unterellmau and turned out to be a great choice. Gerhard, the hotel owner was very flexible and tried to accommodate our needs. At the breakfast we were originally seated in the inside dining area, but after asking if it is possible to sit next to the window with the nice panorama the next day he rearranged the seating. He was also flexible with the check in and check out. We arrived after the reception hours, plus he was kind enough to let us do a late check out without any additional charge. After having some bad experience in more expensive hotels I did not expect so much flexibility and great hospitality. His manner really made our stay a pleasant experience. I loved the "YES, YOU CAN" approach. This hotel should deserve the title of Naturhotel more than some of the so-called hotels. He has cows and the milk is served during breakfast. All in all, the hotel offers a good buffet breakfast, plus fried eggs and waffels are served on request. We found the rooms clean and had everything we needed. The wellness area is not big, but tidy. It has a small sauna, a steam bath, an infrared cabin and foot baths. Since it was not busy, almost felt like a private wellness so we could really enjoy it. For ski holidays the location of the hotel is great, you are next to the slopes of Bergfried sklift, no need for car or bus. The hotel is up on a hill in one of the calmer parts of the village, but still in walking distance to the center, bus stop also very close.
All in all, you get great value for your money, reasonably priced hotel with nice staff. One thing I can criticize a small leaflet about the hotel facilities and breakfast options, hours would be nice to have either in the hotel rooms or at the reception handed over at arrival.
