Our stay itself was okay, the smell of the hallway outside the room was terrible. Inside the apartment there was mold in the shower as well as the mini fridge. The sofa bed mattress was thin and the frame was broken and the end was almost touching the floor. 
After our stay our bond was not refunded, until we chased a few weeks after the stay. It was returned promptly at that point. However, we stayed in March and are now in September and have just had two random payments taken from our bank account by this venue. Our attempts to chase this up have been ignored. Do not stay here, do not give them your card details. They cannot be trusted.

Will not issue a refund even though borders are closed and no international travelers can enter Australia. The international ban will continue for, in the AU governement's language, "the foreseeable future." Northbank will only issue a credit good for 12 months, which is useless to international travelers in this situation. Every other hotel I booked has been willing to issue a refund given the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

We stayed the last weekend of February 2020. We had to cancel the original 2 bedroom apartment as due to unforeseen circumstances, and move to the following week.
We were told there wasnt any 2 bedroom apartments available, which we were okay with and downsized to a one bedroom.
There was an additional charge of $80 as I did originally get the room as a special deal.
I have today checked my credit card and they have charged an additional $49, which no one discussed with me. I have called and they said it was an admin charge to move the date, despite us downsizing. 
Between this cost and the other cost of changing the date, we could have got a room at Crown for cheaper.
Ironically I also received an email today to say they are selling all of their hotels, so clearly are trying to make the balance sheets look good. BEWARE!
The apartments:
On getting out of the lift, the corridors smell really bad, like it has had a flood and the carpets now stink.
We on the 7th floor at the Flinders Street side.
My husband put an item on the shelf that is attached to the wall and when he later picked up the item it was covered in dust .
The balcony floor was uninviting as it looked like it hadn't been mopped in over a year. Not sure why this isn't cleaned everyday when the cleaner goes in??  
This location is at the shabby end of Melbourne CBD, so very aware at night as a lot of homeless just behind this building and strip clubs also around the corner.
Summarise:
There are a lot better apartments that are cleaner and in a better location for the cost.

Needs a Good Clean

We stayed here for 2 nights and was so good for the price. Was not expecting to have such an awesome view. Very clean, close to everything in Melbourne including tram lines. Helpful staff member when we checked in who showed us all the sites to visit.

Also called CityLights - don't be fooled.  This property didn't refund when Booking.com said free cancellation.
Property is uncontactable regarding the matter.  Check that you weren't actually charged despite cancelling for free.  It was lucky I checked the credit card used to pay.

The apartments are actually got a really good base to work with: great kitchen: with really good accessories eg fridge, microwave, glasses, pans. Bathrooms well designed,  & good layout of rooms.  But then the owners/company of the apartments have decked out the rooms in Kmart accessaries: eg pillows, rugs, cushions, towels meaning they are not made for long term wear and tear and that certainly showed. 

If you are going to do accommodation for a living, then these basic are a must:
Beautiful plump pillows, thick white fluffy towels, crisp white linen, good bed, and clean rooms.  Guests will forgive a multitude of sins. The linen eg- white sheet was the only element of this that was exceptionally good!  Owners have control over these things: make them happen
The pillows were way past their use-by date, the towels were cheap thin black, but still stained! Towel Handrail coming off in the bathroom (they had tried gluing it on!), severely stained soap holder in the shower: just fix these things properly, remove and fix. The couch was extremely uncomfortable, the accessaries were a flood of mix-matched decor from marble, to Geo gold to white and silver. Pick a theme and stick with it!

The apartment we stayed in was "clean" but not really! Everything needed a really deep clean, from washing the cushion covers, cleaning the black muck from around stove and taps, all the windows needed cleaning, and the bathroom was lovely, but the grout needed a really good scrub.

And did I mention the noise! There are no words to describe how bad the noise from the trains is! If you are spending limited time here, this place is fine. But if you want real rest, maybe look elsewhere.

Budget stay it is! Need to refresh their kmart decor!

Wanting compensation as they have not honored what we signed up for.
Currently its there word versus ours..however I have kept all text messages that were sent.
Would not reccommend at all

Terrible stay

Firstly after booking and finding out if you check in after 7pm its an additional $49- charge wasn't the best start to the stay. Staff were friendly and professional during both check in and out. The apartment was nice and spacious, could have been a little cleaner with things like cobwebs, but generally acceptable.
What gave the initial shock was seeing earplugs beside each of the beds, but within a minute the sound of the trains came crashing through the apartment. Even with the ridiculously heavy doors installed (that one one person was strong enough to open) to try and minimize the sound it made little difference. The sound was loud and constant. With a balcony facing the 4 or 5 lines leading into Flinders street station it meant early mornings and the trains got underway.
So if you enjoy a sleep in, this isn't the place for you.
If they could fix the sound issue with some significant soundproofing it would dramatically improve my rating and thoughts on this hotel. Unfortunately for me, not again.

Nice apartments with terrible location and noise

I would not recommend this place. Very much mid sold. But the major issue over a month since I have stayed I am still chasing my deposit to be refunded back in to my account. Booking.com have chased and had rude responses. They assure me it has now been paid but 10+ days later I am still waiting. To top it off whilst staying at he property the host tried to take a second payment (at 1am) from my account despite the room having already been paid for. I wouldn’t recommend giving this host access to your bank details by booking here to stay (it’s not particularly clean, comfortable, quiet either!)

Over a month later I still haven’t had my deposit refunded

I had a work summit over 3 nights and as I live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, decided to book into Northbank Residences and avoid the train commutes to and from after long days and late evening functions. It was fully worth it. Check in/out process is seamless even outside of office hours. Clear instructions given. Our one bedroom apartment was clean, beds comfortable and all necessary amenities provided with a fully equipped kitchen. Conveniently located right opposite Crown Casino and walking distance to Flinders St station,  with the balcony facing the Casino and the Yarra River. Even went for a daily run along the Yarra. Plenty of places to eat. Ground floor has a 7Eleven, pizza place, take away shops. Car parking is $40 per night, which is about the going rate in the city, and car is secure. Secure entry to building and car park. Read reviews about noise levels with adjoining Flinders St train lines, however we were on the 9th Floor and the bedroom is at the entrance to the apartment and furthest away from the kitchen and balcony which is closest to the train lines. We were not disturbed by the trains especially over night. Full glass windows in the living room/kitchen area provide magnificent views of the Casino and city skyline. Friendly and helpful staff.  We will definitely stay there on our future city escapes.
