Don’t expect to get what you book. Booking made a month in advance. They messaged day of arrival saying all good. On arrival was told I would have to share bathroom despite specifically booking own bathroom. Having spent 2 weeks camping and sharing bathrooms this was not acceptable.

Good location, decent breakfast and nice garden to sit. Only remark I can make to improve: put up some more hooks in the room and bathroom. Wifi wasn't always available IN the room but there is a sitting area next to the lobby

Tiny but clean and superfriendly host Eugenia

Las Cabañitas is located very close to the shops and restaurants at El Calafate. It consists of a small number of A framed cabanas (hand crafted by the current owners father) which have been completely refurbished in the past few years. There is also one other one level unit, a shared kitchen and dining area for breakfast. 

Each cabana is tiny, but well formed with double bed up a ladder on the mezzanine, with a pair of bunk beds, shower, toilet, table and stools downstairs. 

The husband and wife owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fairly standard..ham, cheese, toast, butter, jam, cereal, yoghurt, juice, tea and coffee). 

Reasonably priced..a good place to stay if you're on a budget. Highly recommended.

Spotless tiny A frame cabanas....good budget option

We loved our little aframe cabin which was not posh but had a great friendly feeling. I bit like a tiny house. Bed in the loft made the place seem like our own little cubby house for adults but you need to be comfortable climbing a ladder. The communal kitchen area was excellent for cooking our dinner especially since we were tired of eating in restaurants every night. They did a great job with our laundry. I recommend this place. 

Cute cabins for a great price

Cabañas were nice and comfortable. Beautiful garden, breakfast OK. Wifi did not work in our room, so we had to go to the common area to be connected. Upon arrival they wanted to charge us the price of our stay: the charges wrongly included the local taxes on top of the published price. Foreigners do not pay hotel taxes in Argentina, but they insisted in charging them anyway. After we gave proof that we were right, the administrator agreed to not charge the taxes, but became rude, hostile and unresponsive for the rest of our stay. Overall, the stay at Cabañitas was fairly unpleasant.
There was not bad attitude from our part, we just defended our right not to be charged in excess.

I wasn't sure where to start with this review as its a story of two halves...

Initially I think my husband and I were probably a little disappointed when we first arrived at Las Cabanitas for a 5 night stay in El Calafate. We are both used to camping and staying in hostels and things but I think we expected a bit more than we got initially at  this place.
The cabinita was smaller than we expected (and we are both quite tall), with no storage space, a shower which leaked onto the bathroom floor and the sink literally IN the shower.
HOWEVER, the family were really friendly and helpful, the dog (Sasha) was cool, wifi was good and the location in the town was great. The breakfast was basic but I started to really look forward to the croissant and dulche de leche muffin in the morning :)
Against our expectations we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other travellers.
Probably better for one or two nights rather than 5 as there isn't really anywhere to keep your stuff or just chill out, but if you plan on being on the go all day then this is the perfect place to sleep, with character and a lovely garden.

Friendly Stay in El Calafate

I made a reservation by email and it was confirmed. When we arrived all rooms were full and I was told that the reservation was too long ago and it is necessary to reconfirm the booking one week before arrival. Nobody had told me. I showed him the email but he didn't care. Very annoying, even more because we are traveling with two little kids.

We spent one night here in one of the little houses in the back and had a great night! 
The houses are small but equipped with everything you need, the bed was one the second floor and was very very comfortable. We rarely slept so well and even Overslept and almost missed our bus!

The family running the place is incredibly friendly and open, we felt very much at home!

One thing to remember is that the water in the shower takes a while to get warm, but once it's hot it's perfect after a day outside. 

We would stay again any time and recommend this place!
