Their website was not working when we booked, but easy to book by emailing them at info at posodaolivardotcom.  Jose responded very quickly.  
This was our family's second visit to Posada Olivar and we would highly recommend it.  It is a small bed and breakfast with beautiful grounds in a great location.  Large rooms with beautiful furnishings.  The area is quiet and beautiful with great restaurants nearby.  Conveniently located for wine tours.  Jose and his wife are wonderful hosts.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Not only it's very warm and comfortable but the facilities are great. It's a great family and you will enjoy such a peaceful environment! Don't doubt to give this place a chance!!111

An amazing vacation

What an absolutely adorable place! We stayed here for 3 nights (3 adults in the family) and had the most wonderful time. Convenient location. The grounds are large and the family atmosphere as Jose lives here with them is so cute and authentic. We did 2 wine tours from here, one in the Ucho Valley and the other in Maipu. The rooms are large and clean. I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay! Plus they have the most wonderful restaurant nearby-Dantesco! 

Quaint accommodation with plenty of character 

We stayed last week at Joses' Posada. Everything looks just as lovely as in the photos. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The grounds are big and the porch and pool area are a nice relaxing touch to unwind after a day around the wineries. 
Jose and his wife were excellent in recommending restaurants and wineries, and organising our taxis' and transport.

Fantastic Stay

We have just spent 4 nights at Posada Olivar and we have been congratulating ourselves on our choice!

We loved the location in Chacras. It was ideally placed for a visit to Mendoza which we did on one day (about 250 pesos by taxi), and for visiting the wineries nearby. We did this using the brand new bikes that Jose has just bought. They were great, especially since there is a cycle path for a lot of the way to Lujon (if you go the way that Jose tells you!) Apparently they are also building a cycle path alongside the canal and that will take you all the way to Mendoza. So Chacras will be even more perfect then.

Jose and his wife are a lovely couple who try their utmost to help you by giving advice and booking taxis and wineries. Jose booked us into 3 different wineries, one for just tasting and the other two for lunches. Both lunches were excellent.

The other nice thing about this posada is that it is close to the town of Chacras and you can easily walk to bars, restaurants and some great coffee shops.

The rooms are very spacious and rustically furnished. They are not luxurious and there are some quirky things like a very noisy cistern, but all is in keeping with the character. Our bathroom was huge and had a lovely big bath as well as a powerful shower so what more old we want? Ours also had a lovely sitting area and a balcony overlooking the back garden and a very large comfy bed.  I think the downstairs rooms had patios with furniture on. There's no tv but who needs a tv on holiday?!

There is a swimming pool but we didn't use it. You can also use the kitchen which was useful for storing things in the fridge and making hot drinks. A kettle in the room might have been helpful as we were upstairs and I had a bad cold so was drinking hot lemon at night to help me sleep. Fortunately my husband went downstairs  each night and brought me up some hot water.

The price for our stay was very reasonable and it is worth getting in touch with Jose direct for a good price. I did this because TA wasn't showing availability but it turned out there WAS a room and it worked well for both of us if I paid him directly in USD. The bikes were ridiculously cheap and came equipped with new helmets, water bottle carriers and padlocks.

All in all, this is a great choice in Chacras, and I would highly recommend it.


Very pleased with our choice

My husband and I just spent 6 nights at Posada Olivar and loved it. It's in a suburb 11km from downtown Mendoza City in the Lujan Valley, one of the three major Mendoza wine areas. The property itself, which used to be a vineyard, is owned and run by Jose and his wife Eugenia. There's the the guest space with about 4 rooms, and they live in the house right next door. The room themselves are lovely, with beautiful windows that let in lots light. Bread/pastries/coffee and tea are served every morning in the dining area, and guests have full access to the kitchen for anyone interested in cooking some meals in. 

Rooms are spacious and pretty. The grounds are quite large and have olive trees, a pool, and outdoor seating areas. Jose and Eugenia are great hosts- they come over every morning with their two little ones (Gasper, 2 1/2 and Valentina, 10 months) to check in and help with any plans for the day. We actually found out the night before our flight back to Buenos Aires that our flight had been cancelled. Jose spent an over an hour helping us call the airline and reschedule our flights since neither my husband and I could use our phones in Argentina. Jose and Eugenia also both speak fluent English which is helpful. 

For people looking to spend most of their trip exploring wineries and relax in a quieter spot, Posada Olivar is perfect. There's not a ton to do right nearby like there is in the city, but there's a bus into Mendoza City (which we only did once) and some restaurants close by. We ended up really appreciating the location and how relaxing it was in Chacras, and can't say enough good things about the hosts.

Beautiful B&B right in wine country with lovely hosts

We had a wonderful time in José's b&b. The house is lovely, and the big garden (with the nice swimming pool) made us feel like we're in the middle of the countryside, very quiet, although we were at a 5 minutes walking distance from Italia street where you can find bakeries, shops and restaurants. Also, a perfect location to visit the closeby wineries, and very close to the bike path that goes to Mendoza city center. The room was great with full comfort. And above everything, José and his wife were amazingly friendly and helpful with everything. I highly recommend this place to stay close to Mendoza!

Amazing b&b in great location

I think there are 5 private rooms here in this lovely house. We booked 2 rooms for 4 days (one person in each). This is why its so good and why its #1 on tripadvisor for the area:
- Jose is great owner/host. Responds to email/whatsapp very quickly. Speaks good english. Very hospitable
- Located on a big property in the middle of town ('chacras').
- The rooms are massive. Mine was more like a 1 bedroom (unstairs) and my friends was downstairs with 2 rooms and a patio and had 4 beds in it (the main bed is like super king size).
- The attention to detail in the rooms is 10/10. This is a high quality boutique B&B. Quite luxurious.
- Its great value. Everything else we enquired about in town was double the price and no where near the quality of here. 
- We were so comfortable, we stayed 4 nights, instead of our original 2. We couldn't stop saying to ourselves how much we loved it. 
- Contact Jose direct rather than go thru bookings, as he is very quick to respond
- the property is new. The owner lives next door in the original building.
- its so quiet at night and generally very quaint
- they have a kitchen you can use and the wifi works well
