Stayed here for 3 nights in total in different 4th and 5th floor rooms. The hotel is large and in need of a refurbishment . Overall it wasn't too bad. Rooms were spacious, pretty clean, lots of hot water though the poor water pressure made showering in the 1st room tricky. The rooms vary in what works eg my 1st room had very poor aircon, a dodgy shower and a broken tv but the fridge did have complimentary water and juice. My 2nd room had a working tv with an English language movie channel, good aircon and shower but no water or juice. Towels and linen were fine, spare pillows and blankets in the wardrobe, shampoo and soap and free wi-fi in room. The beds were on the hard side. Once the other guests stopped shouting in the corridors it was surprisingly quiet. The lift is picturesque but unreliable. Breakfast was an average Algerian affair, neither the best nor worst. The hotel is well located, there are restaurants and a grocery shop nearby.

Needs updating

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning and end of a two week tour taken of Northeastern Algeria.  As mentioned by other people is dated, but still has some charm.  The renovated room on the fifth floor were very good.  In contrast, the rooms on the second floor were run down and somewhat dirty and run down

Adequate Hotel but needs some work

This hotel is in a great location near the corniche but the rooms are not so good for the price (12,000 DZD for a single room). Earplugs are essential if you want to have any chance of a decent sleep (mainly noise from traffic, but also from neighbours if you are unlucky). Cigarette smoke can also be a problem. Breakfast is pretty basic (as is common in most hotels in Algeria). Wifi is included but can be frustratingly slow at times.

Good location but poor value for money

For the price you pay you get away less than you expect except for the location and proximity to downtown. This hotel is an ancient building that requires modernization to keep up with the international standard for the price yoy pay.

Poor and cheap service

I stayed there for three nights during May 2015, travelling for business.
Staff are indifferent and show no intention to provide a quality service.
Cleaners try to get into the room without knocking first-there are no "Do not disturb" signs on the doors.
Bed was very uncomfortable with a very hard mattress.
Bathroom and fixtures old. 
Carpets throughout the hotel extremely dirty, old and worn out.
Breakfast was a joke-some bread and pastries with yoghurt and juices.
Coffee terrible and the milk that they served it to me with had gone sour-and none of the staff had noticed...

The building itself shows that this was probably the place to stay during the 50s and probably early 60s but the problem is that very few things have changed since. Furniture is old, carpets seem that they have never been replaced for at least a few decades. The whole decoration takes you back to the 60s. The elevator is a relic and probably the most interesting feature of the hotel.
Staff simply do not care.
Every thing is so old and in all the wrong ways in so many levels.
Dinner at the restaurant is overpriced and badly cooked.
Nothing seems clean and unfortunately nothing is.
And all this comes at a very high price that bares no relation to quality and value.
I will not stay there again and I hope that this review will help other travellers to make other choices.
