In English: Gerd’s hostel is indeed in the center and quite close to the Mariscal Sur District in Quito, which is the area with a lot of bars and restaurants. During our backpacking trip through Quito we learned what we believe a good hostel needs … a  fast and efficient Wireless network, clean rooms, a delicious and healthy breakfast and a great host. Which is what we got, while staying at the Hostal Zentrum. And even a bit of a home-feeling, given that Gerd is german. We stayed three different times, we were never disappointed. There is an additional car-service from and to the airport which is cheaper than a taxi or an Uber and can be arranged with Gerd.

Die Unterkunft von Gerd liegt wirklich sehr zentral fußläufig zum Mariscal Sur District in Quito der mit vielen Bars und Restaurant ausgestattet ist. Während unserer Reisen haben wir viel über Hostels gelernt und wichtig ist wirklich gut funktionierendes Internet, Sauberkeit, ein ausreichendes Frühstück und ein netter Host. Und all das haben wir im Hostal Zentrum bekommen. Dazu noch ein Stück Heimat ... was will man mehr. Wir waren insgesamt drei mal bei Gerd und der Eindruck hat sicher jedesmal bestätigt. Desweiteren gibt es einen zuverlässigen  und kostengünstigen Fahrservice vom und zum Flughafen, welchen wir genutzt haben.

Outstanding Location and great Hostel

Hostel Zentrum is a large late 19th century villa located in district La Mariscal near Plaza Foch. The hostel is charming, clean, safe and very well maintained. The owner is a German gentleman (1931) and very friendly and helpful.

Zentrum hostel offers excellent comfort in a good location. Next door you have two restaurants. At 5 minutes walking you find shops & travel agencies and the lively nightlife of Plaza Foch with restaurants, pubs, bars & discos. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet. Check-out is at 12:00 AM.

Our room was large and super clean. We had a sitting room, a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with washbasin, toilet and shower. The window can be opened but have no mosquito screen. Unfortunately room 32 is on the side of Avenida 9 de Octubre, just where the buses stop for a speed bump and subsequent accelerate with a lot of noise. We moved to a room on the backside of the villa.

Room 34 has a spacious sitting-room with bench, coffee table, safe, desk & table, cupboard, fridge & TV. We had a bedroom with a good double bed luggage rack & wardrobe, and a spacious bathroom with washbasin, toilet and shower. Again all was super clean.

The hostel serves a great breakfast with eggs made to order: fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurt, very good bread, butter, cheese, ham, marmalade, tea & coffee.

Highly recommend.

Hostel Zentrum is a gem

The location of the accommodation is just perfect, everything is nearby. The Hamburg-based owner Gerd gave us a lot of tips for the city. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is unique to Ecuador (fresh bread, fruit salad), to highly recommend. The next time we are in Quito, we will definitely stay here again.

Very nice accommodation in very good condition

Nice with aitport transportion and good daily breakfast. But that is also almost it - very very cold rooms (and other hostels in town were much warmer, so it wasn’t only because of the time of the year); very difficult to arrange tours because of poor communication (besides spanish and german); expensive and breakfast is not included....

Way too good ratings unfortunately

A great place to spend time in Quito with friends and family. We enjoyed it. I hope to return soon there. It looks recently remodeled. Much transportation. Private bathroom, kitchen and good the truth very well.

 Pretty good enough.

Great hostel! Had our own little area with the 6bed dorm that came with a private bathroom for us. Kitchen quit small but has everything u need and a water kettle! Owner is very friendly and helpful too. All I’d say it’s hard to find something better in that area for that money! Also super close to the foch (like 5-8min walk)

Amazing!

We had a great time at Gerd's hostel center. Everything is super clean and the breakfast is delicious with fresh cereal, ham, salami, cheese, fresh fruit and eggs. Since we went to Mindo for one night, we were allowed to leave our luggage in the room. Thank you very much for the great stay!

It's a great stay.

The affordable hostel centre is located in a very convenient location for everything you need, and is nevertheless beautifully quiet at night. Patron Gerd runs his house well. He speaks German and has good information for excursions and visits. His employee prepares an excellent breakfast with eggs in all varieties.

A pleasant stay in Quito

The hostel, run by a German, has well-maintained and very beautiful double rooms, suites and group rooms. The breakfast is prepared by the nice Doña Narcisa very richly and also according to individual wishes. Hostel owner Gerd, from Hamburg, gives the best tips for an unforgettable stay in Quito. So: highly recommend!!

That's great again!

The hostel center is very cheaply located inside Quitos. Gerd, the owner is a lovely relic of a very good old time. The hostel is very well maintained, very clean - and thus completely different from other hostels in Ecuador. We were in Quito for a week, in the hostel center, and we felt very comfortable. It is very quiet, and right around the corner you get everything you need to organize the way out. Not to forget, the WIFI also had excellent quality.
