This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the ocean and sunset. Great food and drinks. Quick walk to the marina, restaurants, bars and shopping. Had most of our meals at the hotel because of the great service and yummy drinks. Air conditioning in every room and warm water for showers, not that it’s really needed. Wonderful staff. Highly recommend!

Diamond in the Rough

The Victor Hugo beach view hotel is exceptional,clean, well maintained, and well run.   Everything is working, hot instant showers, the staff friendly and reliable. Great beach or garden views, private parking, newly covered  pool table. Large  Common areas overlooking the beach.  Easy  walking to town, yet far enough away from the noisy night life.  Mayely is a great hostess at the front desk.  I've tried a few places between Ayampe and Puerto Cayo, but the victor Hugo is still the Boss.

Victor Hugo is a winner!

We loved our stay at Victor Hugo.  I was travelling with my husband and sister.  She paid $30 and we paid $40 for a great garden view room with a good bathroom (nice hot shower with good pressure) and fantastic air conditioning.  Our room had a double bed and a single bed (great for suitcases!).  
After one night we opted to upgrade to the third floor ocean view for $10 more a night (so $50 US.  That gave us a HUGE room with balcony overlooking the ocean, two beds, large couch, armoire, and walk in tub/shower combo, and small fridge (bigger than most hotel fridges).  The room was amazing!!!  We especially loved sitting at our table and two chairs on the balcony, overlooking the beach.  At night if you turn off the air conditioning, you can hear the waves!  My sister opted to stay in her smaller garden view room as she liked it so much.  
The hotel itself has gorgeous grounds and gardens, a secure gated parking lot, and a beautiful restaurant overlooking the ocean.  We had beer and quesadillas and the quesadillas came with an incredibly good guacamole and chilli.  
Best of all, the staff and service at Victor Hugo is amazing.  They RUN to help you with a huge smile, just to be helpful (it's clear that they don't expect a tip, they just want to help you).  
We loved this hotel.  If we ever come back to Puerto Lopez we will head right to this hotel!!!

Perfect place to stay

Everything about this hotel was terrific.  Everyone on the staff was super friendly and helpful.  The location is perfect - right on the beach.  Hotel was very clean, everything worked, and the bed was comfortable.  They have a restaurant with great food - try the american cheeseburger!  Beer was cheap and cold.  The overall atmosphere is just laid back.  You can sit in their open air restaurant just having a beer watching the beach or reading a book.  If you get a room with an ocean view its worth the extra money.

Fantastic hotel right on the beach

I recommend 100% this hotel, it's very clean, facing the sea and the sound of the waves is incredible, combined with the terrace that allows you to see the sunset from the room, spacious rooms..... The exquisite super good taste food, and the attention of the very friendly staff.... One of the best places in Puerto Lopez an excellent quality.

Lo mejor de Puerto Lopez highly recommended the best choose.

Stayed for 4 nights.  We arrived early and were allowed to check in.  This isn’t high season and middle of the week so we were lucky.  On the 3rd floor ocean front.  Loved leaving my sliding door open and listening to the ocean.  Air conditioning and a small fridge in the room.  Some have microwaves and TVs. If this is important to you ask for a room with these.  The staff is lovely and very helpful.  Breakfast was very good.  Coffe/tea, fresh fruit, eggs juice and bread.  Portions are huge, asked for less eggs and one roll.  It’s quiet at night.  I prefer a shower not a bath/shower combo but don’t know if they have these.

Hotel according to expectations, clean, facing the sea, adequate food, very friendly staff, pleasant lounge games, good location in Puerto López.

Good hotel and good care.

Best place to stay in Puerto Lopez! It’s far enough from the city center to filter out the racket (I’ve never heard so many car alarms while eating dinner) but close enough for an easy safe walk.  

Víctor and his staff are so welcoming and nice.   The breakfast was delicious.  

Room 15 is great, quiet and has a beautiful view.

Great location & super warm staff.   Get an ocean view room.

The area where the hotel is located is super quiet, there is no bustle so you can rest, hot water, a very good breakfast, and above all, cool, the bathrooms very clean, and the greenery that gives a super rich countryside.

Excellent hotel 

I stayed in a first floor room with ocean view, enjoyed hanging out on the small balcony every night, reading my book in hammock. The room was spacious, the bed comfy, there was hot water, fridge. Had breakfast that one time, it was the normal breakfast offered in most places in Ecuador - eggs, fruit, coffee.
