I had such a nice experience here.  The wonderful woman who runs it always has a smile.  The room was comfy, and the bed had lots of warm blankets on it.  I was there in Cuenca’s cold season, so the room could get a bit chilly, but not bad and expected in Cuenca.  Lots of hot water for the shower, and the room was cleaned daily.  It was spotless.  
They provide soap and shampoo.  
The breakfast had fresh made pineapple juice, a warm roll, coffee, and scrambled eggs.  She scrambled them for each person, they were made fresh.  
I felt very safe in the area, even walking around at night.  There are shops and restaurants all around.  It’s in a very walkable place with many places to go and things to see in the area.
One thing that surprised me was how quiet it was.  I had heard that Cuenca was noisy, but I guess the beautiful old building kept it quiet.  

I highly recommend this lovely hotel, and I’d happily stay there again.

Welcoming and lovely

The hotel is very well located, clean, spacious room ith a view to the inner garden and good bathroom, good breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. They let me stay a little bit longer than check-out, which was so kind!

Well located, charming hotel

Our second time at this hotel, last visited 6 months ago. Rooms are comfortable and spotless clean. All the furniture is new. Beds are new and very comfortable. Staff is mostly a husband wife team with one helper. These people really care. We always feel safe here. The neighborhood is the best in Cuenca. within 100 meters there is the number 2 rated Italian restaurant in Cuenca and the #1 rated Thai restaurant and origami sushi which is also 4.5 stars. + two artisan beer brew pubs! 3 blocks to the main plaza and cathedral. It is our first choice of hotels in Cuenca. ps ask to see the rabbits!

Great location, comfy and clean rooms, phenomenal service, and it's affordable! You should definitely stay here! The owner and his wife do a great job making every one feel welcome and it is very secure. 

Amazing!

We came to this hostel motivated by two things: the location and the excellent review. It is true that the location is perfect and the cleanliness impeccable, but I do not understand how it has such a high score. The rooms are simple, clean but somewhat claustrophobic since no natural light enters, and not that they are beautiful either. Because being a corral style building you hear a lot of noises all the time. The staff seems to be correct but quite dry. They did not try very hard to tell the truth. I don't want to say anything wrong; I just don't expect it to be a palace with super lovely people because it's not.

Okay, but no more.

My wife and I stayed for a week at the Pegasus in January of 2018.  We visited our daughter who was on a gap year in Cuenca before starting college.  The location, in old town Cuenca, and about halfway in between the Parque Calderon and the Rio Tomebamba, is excellent, with many shops, restaurants and museums nearby.  We felt very safe walking around, even after dark.

Like most Cuenca hotels in the old part of town, the rooms face an interior courtyard.  Our room was clean and comfortable, with plenty of hot water and good wi-fi.  Our room was quiet, with a very few exceptions when other guests arrived late at night.  Breakfast was fairly ordinary, but there are plenty of inexpensive places to eat nearby.

Victor, the owner, has spent a lot of time in the US and speaks excellent English.  He is a great resource for anything you need while visiting Cuenca.  See if you can guess by his accent where he spent his time in the US!

Overall, I would highly recommend the Pegasus.  New, clean, great location, great staff, wonderful owner and a great value.

We had a great stay

An excellent place, wonderfully attended and very close to everything, churches, tourist spots, restaurants on foot or with courtesans and very cheap taxi races......A place to return to the brevetad possible.....recommended...

In the historic center of Cuenca.

Well, I agree: good location, very clean, good wifi.
But: we didn't meet any of the described English speaking owner / staff, the breakfast was rather poor and the same every day (coffee, juice, scrambled eggs, one bred-like pastry and limited butter and jam). No hairdryer, not only in the room, but the whole hotel didn't  have one. And our room was rather small. I don't think it's 3 star. I would give 2 points, the 3 instead is just because it was very cheap.

Not as perfect as previous comments suggest

We stayed a week in the Pegasus hotel. We found this place after originally booking in a hostel nearby where we spent one night only not being able to sleep because of the loud music. The hotel is very new, clean, calm, and in the middle of the city center. Best value you will get in Cuenca for this level of quality. To top that, the host Victor and his wife were very accomodating and help us out when my girlfriend was sick. Thanks a lot.
I highly recommend this hotel.

High quality rooms, great host, away from noise

I recently stayed 5 days at the Pegasus in Cuenca. Great location! Very comfortable and clean. Hot water and good WiFi. Victor, the owner, and his family and staff are warm and welcoming... ENGLISH IS SPOKEN HERE!
