Good little hotel,very good location,8  minutes walk from the bus terminal,and only one quadra from the central parc and the tourist district.All kinda of restaurants around,from the street food vendors across the street and the mercado central food stands at 2,50 $ for a fulland excellent Ecuadorian meal to the pricier european style food places ,no lack of choices there.The hotel is clean,well maintained and affordable,breakie is included,good and prepared in front of you by the lady in charge of the hotel.although there's always something missing at breakfast,we had 2 days no mantequilla,1 day with no leche,1 day no fruit juice...but no big deal the staff is friendly and always trying to help.The down side,the rooms on the street side are very noisy,even more during weekends when people from Quito,Ambato or Rio Bamba come to Baños for the hotspring  and thermal baths.Same thing for the hotel restaurant on the 5th floor.,we had to wait for more than one hour to get a table cleaned up and ready for breakfast and after that another 20 minutes to get our food.It happened only once though and it was on a sunday and the hotel was packed.The rest of the week was better,almost no wait time.Habitaćion #401 has a very small bathroom the gap between the toilet bowl and the wall is no more than 1' good luck if you are tall 😕

Not a street side room por favor

Went around to a bunch of places in Baños to find a place. The very small town is basically all hotels and all rates are negotiable. This was the best value for money we found at $15 a night for a clean private room with hot water and internet. A bit small but good other than that.

The rooms are ordinary, slightly small, the attention is almost zero, and the breakfast is disorganized and very sparse, even WE HAVE CABRADO TWO RIVANADAS OF EXTRA BAN that we ask for, to the two that come with the design.

There's a lot more to it than I want.

Very noisy place, we stayed here for a night and was enought to experience the worse night ever! Was not able to sleep until 12:30am because they had the music so loud. Had to wake up at 7:00am because the kitchen, TV, other guest were sooooo loud. If you are looking for a good rest, do not come to this place. And to top it off, other guest were having a party until midnight on the kitchen and the owner did not had consideration for other guest. We asked for a refund that same night and the young man that was on the front told us that we did not had money. REALLY!!! I do not recommend this place at all, save your self money and time and go somewhere else!

WORST NIGHT EVER!

The way the word "hostal" is used differently in different countries can be confusing. When we booked here, we were thinking there may be rooms with bunk beds, lots of party people and the usual that one thinks of associated with hostels with an 'e'. Wrong!

This is a sweet little hotel. I dare say if you have an abundance of luggage, this is not the place for you. The rooms are on the small side, but with carry-on luggage, it was perfect. For a location, it is excellent. The Basilica is on the corner and all of downtown starts a block from the door.

We have been here for 4 nights and have thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. The woman who runs the place is a sweet and kind woman. She has helped us get our laundry done at minimal cost and maximum convenience. The young woman who cleans the rooms goes above and beyond what we would have expected. 

Yes, the rooms are on the small side and the bathroom is also small. However, there has been the best hot water here in both the shower and the sink of anywhere we have stayed in Ecuador and we have been here for 2 months already. The water pressure in the shower is like being under a waterfall. It is a delight to use, but using the hot water only could cause a severe burn. It is that hot. Incredible!

Our room was on the street side, but the noise level was minimal. There are street vendors (3 of them) that cook and serve until about midnight and then leave. They are generally quiet. There is little traffic at night. 

Another benefit is this hotel has the best WiFi of any place that we have experienced in Ecuador. It is very fast. 

If we were to return to Banos, we would not think twice before returning here again.

Cinnamon and Honey and Everything Nice

There are many hostels in the small but beautiful town of Baños de Agua Santa in Ecuador.We were comparing quality and prices (there is no major difference) but finally and for the appearance (better than others) we decided on Canela y miel.We asked for a tour in chiva (a popular and tourist means of transport that goes up the hill nearest the city) and we were told that they could include it in the price and that we had to be at a certain time in the place because there would be a big difference.We were comparing quality and prices (there is no major difference) but finally and for the appearance (better than others) we decided on Canela y miel.We asked for a tour in chiva (a popular and tourist means of transport that goes up the hill nearest the city) and we were told that they could include it in the price and that we had to be at a certain time in the place because there would be a big difference (there is no major difference), but we offered to spend a certain amount of time (different from the one that we sold the tour) and we insisted

It looked good....but....

Nice hostal but bad management.  Despite reservations i made in person at the desk at a previous visit the hostal was fully booked when we arrived. At 13.30! They asked a higher rate from other guests arriving without  reservations. We would have been happy to pay a higher price if they had asked when i made the reservations.  Argument was that it was a holiday but they knew beforehand what date the holidays are. Unreliable.

Bad management

The hostel is affordable, comfortable, cozy and very clean.The rooms have everything you need to spend the night: hot water, comfortable beds and a television, the price you pay includes breakfast.The staff in general is very attentive.The location is the problem, it is close to the basilica and below there is a bar, if you want to rest at night or early in the morning you will not be able to because of the noise of the bars around, there is always live music and that will not let you sleep.

Good facilities but too much noise around.

We were very impressed with the accommodation, from the cost that depends on the season and the day is economical in relation to the cost of service, the simple but cozy rooms and above all clean daily, with the best treatment of its administrator, plus it offers a breakfast that can be supplemented with some options, is in the center of almost everything, the next time we return safely will be at Canela y Miel.
