Great beach - beautiful!  Pools were nice.  The ease of getting around the resort was good.  Do NOT go to the Asian restaurant!  Could not go one day without being approached about a time share.  Overall I would go back if they promised to give us a bracelet that told the staff not to keep bothering us about time shares.

Overall the trip here was not terrible. I went with my fiance and if you are not a high maintenance person, then this is a hotel that could work for you. The pools are nice and large but needed more shade. The food was nothing special but I definitely suggest getting reservations for the restaurants for dinner 100%. In addition, we got a double room instead of king size room so we had to push together our beds but it wasn't that bad because we had lots of bed space haha. 
The two main negative experiences I had was the timeliness of addressing my issue with the power in my room cutting off due to my hairdryer and it took them a lot of time to come fix it. I had called about the issue but it was not until I walked all the way to the customer service table, that someone finally came to fix it. I also went back to my room after breakfast one day and our cards just stopped working so I had to walk far to get them reset.

Overall Average Trip

The hotel is good. Everything good is listed a hundred times in other reviews. Corps 11 without complaints (2nd floor 228 room). There were 3 water breaks at night. Everything else is great. Great rest. Good food, except for the steak house, the husband burned the steak to the coast, sprinkled the sauce so it wouldn't be seen and brought. They realized that there was no point in going to restaurants at all.

It's a good hotel.

Now with the latest remodeling, now more than ever, it had been 8 years ago and I loved it, but now much better, completely renovated from the end of 2017, fantastic, from the hand of Director Sr. Angel Perez, as well as the wonderful receptionists at Royal Level, all their employees always with a smile on their face, what a good education of all employees, Thanks Western, Thanks.

It seems that lately LO MEJOR has become more and more popular.

Beautiful island and lovely beach but the staff were not great. The food was only OK and the beach bar constantly ran out of limes very early on (when it was manned) and made no attempt to get more meaning we were not able to get our favourite drink. The staff didn't seem to bothered about helping. The worst part was the constant excursion sellers, gardeners trying to sell you coconuts and the ongoing hassle from Occidental Vacation club personnel. Foolishly I listened on one occassion and they will simply try to tell you anything in order to get you to part with your money. Don't waste your time listening to them.
The brand has lost a lot of kudos in my book. I would not recommend and certainly would not go back.

Not impressed

Excellent location, swimming pools, beach, very good service by all staff, very good drinks in the minibars, very good and varied cuisine, the room was very comfortable and clean as well as the entire complex.

Overall, the hotel is good, I would correct some slight service details, but they are nothing to spoil your stay, generally I give you an 8 out of 10, good quality price ratio, I plan to come back during this year.

 Relationship quality price

This hotel has a huge potential to be one of the best in Bavaro, but when you look past the beautiful grounds and spacious refurbished rooms, the “soul” of the hotel is just empty. I’ve been to the DR 10 times and I have never seen such arrogant staff. I’m talking about the bartenders, that will give you angry looks and randomly decide not to serve you for 15 min if they feel like it.

The customer service is deplorable, as for example the cleaning lady forgot to put towels in our room. This things happen and are of course acceptable. What is not acceptable is calling the front desk 5 times, for 2 hours, to obtain nothing. We had to go to the lobby in person, queue, and request towels so they could be delivered. 

Speaking of the lobby, yes, check in is painfully slow with overwhelmed staff. We did not get the upgraded room we booked, they blamed our travel agency, which told us it was actually the hotel’s mistake. We didn’t even get a “sorry” about this. 

Basically, if you are not in their “royal club”, you are a nobody, you deserve being treated badly, and you are invisible to bartenders. Sorry but every paying customer should be treated the same, especially considering this resort is not cheap either. 

Fancy a cocktail at 5pm on the beach? Nope, that will be beer only after 4! Enjoy the 500m walk to the lobby or main pool to get your drink! 

Finally, if you plan to visit between February and March, and wish to relax, beware! The hotel is full of drunk spring breakers that will leave their dirty plates, cups, and cigarettes inside and around the main pool, with staff looking the other way. Thankfully, we always spent our days at the smaller pool and beach which were quieter and relaxing.

All in all, we were impressed by the rooms and general appearance of the hotel, but the service is just too bad to recommend this resort.



Beautiful hotel, very bad service (and beware of Spring Breakers!)

Wonderful staff, substandard food and lack of concern and accommodation for an ill guest. Would not return to this Occidental and the brand is off my list as well. It is unfortunate that our rooms were wrong when we arrived and we spent hours trying to fix it. One room had a terrible odor that they were not able to get rid of. The building we were in was leaking near the stairwell. They had buckets and towels all over to keep the water from going down the staircase but it was worrisome. Overall the weather and the staff were the greatest things about this vacation. 

Not Great!

The hotel is well distributed, it's large, clean, good pools, beautiful and safe beach, if you're going to rest you can get there away from the main pool but the food hurts everything, there's no variety and the quality could improve, he's had better experiences but it's expensive.
