Very beautiful property, very comfortable beds. it is a bit out of the way so you either have to drive to access food and shopping, or are you have to be willing to walk a lot! Although it was called a B&B on the website, there was no breakfast included. That was surprising and disappointing That is my only criticism. Otherwise, it was lovely.

This was a great place to stay! Esteban was very welcoming and helpful with anything that we needed. It was very beautiful and quaint. I had one of the best sleeps for our entire trip. Also very close to the biological preserve!

Great place!

What a wonderful place to stay in Monteverde! This is a family-owned hotel, with comfortable, clean rooms that are quiet. The grounds are beautifully maintained and add to the calming atmosphere. The owners are especially kind and knowledgeable. It’s also a short drive to the Cloud Forest Reserve or the hustle and bustle of Santa Elena—but you’ll feel a world away in this quiet retreat. This is the place to stay!

A beautiful, quiet family-friendly retreat

It’s basic, with good hot water.  I thought breakfast was included, but not.  Has bare necessities.  People are kind.

Lovely lodge at the edge of Monteverde, and close to the cloud forest reserve. There are trees surrounding the rooms. We saw monkeys and butterflies from our deck. Friendly hosts local to the area gave us good suggestions for activities. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the restaurant across the street - suggest going into town for something cheaper if you have time.

My husband and I stayed 3. Nights at this charming hotel. It is in walking distance to the Monteverde cloud forest. A good 20 minute walk but very convenient. The hotel staff, in particular Esteban, were very gracious and helpful. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. We had a kitchenette as well as a lovely terrace with a hammock and a small bench. It overlooks lush greenery. Esteban was quick to help whenever we needed anything. Since the hotel is a 20-25 minute walk from the tiny town center, at Esteban’s suggestion, we took advantage of a food delivery so-called Monteverde en Casa.after long days of hiking, it was great to just eat in our little kitchen and get ready for the next day’s adventures. We would definitely stay here again.

Great value

Ideally located between the city of Santa Elena and the National Park of Monteverde, the accommodation is simple, rather clean. Good for sleeping but no entertainment facilities.

Simple and well located

We spent 2 nights in Mariposa Inn during the Corona Virus outbreak in Mid-March. We drove from Arenal to Monteverde which was an interesting ride - most of it was hilly and narrow and the last 30 kms of it was unpaved roads. Most of Monteverde is unpaved roads. Driving on them was not an issue though it was really slow. The inn is at a dead end kind of - walking distance to Biological Preserve with day and night tours of the forest. 
We reached a bit late and the night tour at the preserve was sold out even during Corona outbreak. Esteban the owner is very friendly and a kind person who helped us arrange another night tour at the Curicancha reserve. It was the highlight of our tour. Walking through the forest at night was amazing with all the creatures coming out and the noises and of course the sunset.
We had a 2 bedroom with kitchen and a terrace overlooking the forest. It was cold during the morning and evenings and got quite hot in the day. The place is surrounded by nature with amazing views and due to elevation didn't see many birds and animals. Best part of staying at Mariposa was the made to order breakfast served with fresh fruits. Esteban helped us plan our day and gave us suggestions to spend the day and where to eat. We ate at Tramonti Italian place one night. The place was overflowing with tourist considering the Corona outbreak and had some good Italian food which was reasonably priced. Esteban recommended CASEM - a cooperative run by local women. They made some amazing fresh food which we absolutely loved.
We went to 100% Aventura featuring the Superman zip-line and the Tarzan swing (around 20 mins). The kids absolutely loved it. Later in the evening we went for a sunset horseback riding organized by Smiling Horse which was a great experience.
We used the kitchen to make pasta and found it to be well equipped.
Overall we loved our stay in Monteverde and are glad we decided to stay at the Mariposa Inn. We would recommend it to everyone.
