For a 1 night stop-over en route somewhere else its absolutely fine. Bit of noise from the main road but not too bad. Room was very clean. Try and bag a bottom bunk as the ladders are a bit hazardous up to the top bunk. Chilled out atmosphere and helpful reception and information on the walls for onward travel.

Good value

We stayed in a private room with private bathroom. Our room was round a communal court yard and the hostel is on a busy road so noisey morning and night. Room was clean. Bathroom was mouldy in places, taps didn’t work, no hot water. Not a great location. 

Not a great hostel

The hostel is located 4 blocks from the Tracopa terminal and that is excellent if you want to travel to the beaches of Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Uvita or towards Corcovado via Sierpe.For the services, cleanliness, convenience, bathrooms, similar to any unattended hostel.So I recommend it immediately just for passing by.If they improve the cleanliness it would be more appreciated.

When we got there around midnight, we had a tiny room next to the street. There was no cleanliness and no bath towels. There was a lot of noise.

Spartan and noisy room

Sometimes in San José, we get late, so we have to find a place to stay.We have to stay here, friendly staff, small hostel, clean rooms, quiet atmosphere.There is also breakfast, comfortable, the price is affordable.

For a last-minute shelter, recommended.

Noisy, bad location, unfriendly/unhelpful staff. Better off taking your money somewhere else! We had a private room with shared bathroom (the entire building shared one bathroom) which overflooded. We notified the staff who did nothing about it. Beds are uncomfortable, breakfast is not good. Don’t bother. 

Horrible hostel 

I arrived at this hostel at night with a couple of Poles, they had a reservation there. The taxi driver who took us from the terminal to the hostel (20 blocks) charged us a fortune. Apparently he was known to the people of the hostel. The next morning, willing to forget what happened to the taxi driver, I ran to Carthage. When I left the room there was only one person sleeping in the room where I was also. When I returned, I opened my locker and found everything unorganized and meban USD350.

In this hostel I was robbed!

This is a good hostel to stay at if you want to save money for your trip. The cleanliness wasn’t the best but the staff was nice and the location was good. My main issue here was a tour company they recommended called Marbella Tours. I had a terrible experience on their tour to Arenal Volcano. It was very touristy and commercial and I only saw the volcano about 20 minutes out of the 14 hours I spent on the tour. Avoid this company - it was a huge waste of money and time.

Good value hostel (beware of the tours they recommend)

The hostel is about 15 minutes from the city center, the way to the city is interesting and seemed safe to us as well as the area itself! Restaurant and supermarkets are within 2 minutes. The staff were friendly and also helpful. Delicious breakfast! The private room unfortunately smelled quite modest, the bathroom (private) was full of mold mushrooms. Since no windows (rooms and bathrooms) were difficult to ventilate! The dorms seemed to be in a better condition! Earplugs are recommended by the noise from the street that woke us up at 5 a.m. each morning.

Great location, unfortunately very noisy

We stayed one night just arriving from the airport. the friendly and attentive staff. especially a minor boy who was working there for a while. they helped us with a few questions about the trip and how to buy the bus tickets we would take the next day. the hostel is very close to the Tacopa bus station from which buses depart to various destinations in the country. the room and bathroom were very good. quality price great.
