I didn't like the accommodation at all and didn't have much water, you don't have water to bathe in, you're old, very dirty and full of cockroaches, my bed had a hole that left me with pain all along the way. the service is very bad at dawn. I've been out for two days without anyone opening and they still make a noise because you arrive at dawn. they take their money without their consent. as soon as I reserve the room. Breakfast isn't bad every day. it's the same! many times you go there and you don't have only days that you don't and it doesn't matter if you pay for the accommodation with breakfast. I left a towel in the bathroom instead of asking if it was, the towel, the laundry room, and they'll leave it in their bathroom for personal use that's next to the hotel.

What a piece of shit.

I made a mistake in an earlier review that was meant for Hotel de la Cuesta and not Casa Makiki. My stays at Makiki all were good and I was sad to see the hotel close in Alejuela. My earlier review is about my stay at La Cuesta where I was charged additionally because I had a service animal (unlawful), and then I was not provided proper bedding and had to use my clothing from my suitcase to stay warm at night. Hotel de La Cuesta, despite the very friendly staff was a very uncomfortable stay after they charged me extra to clean a blanket because of my short-haired service dog, and also provided thread-bare sheets and no blanket afterward despite wanting to charge me to clean the blanket due to my ESA. My dog and I have stayed in multiple countries and in upscale hotels and not once has there every been a complaint about his shedding, or a response to "take away" bedding.

It is located on the edge of the centre. It has comfortable beds, a large living room and is also relatively clean. Only the showers are somewhat shy and the kitchen is not recommended for use.

5 nights -1 PersonThe Hotel is Very inexpensive $10-$20 a night You get Exactly what you Pay for.I had the Deluxe room,Private Shower / ToiletThey did not change the bed sheets When I requested,The Pillow covers looked clean,(They were Blue in Color)The Pillows looked very Old and Yellow,There are 3-4 Receptionists, all Men They are all Very Friendly and Helpful  I had a King size bed that took up the whole room, No where to put things anywhere,The King Bed Frame was very well built and solid but it looked like it was falling apart, shower head Water is ColdWith no Hot water There is no A/C in the RoomI slept ok with out it 1 towel per person

· My room had no TV running because according to reception they stole the electricity cable, they did not have soap in the shower, I bought one in the market .. the light went to the dawn and I never return ..
the reception guy on Sunday night did not make the slightest effort to solve the situation ... I have to add that the only pleasant experience was the treatment and compression of Juan at the front desk ..
this place is advertised as a hotel in booking.com  but is really a century old house subdivided in many many rooms...if i would know i would stay at the park next to it..

It wasn't what I booked, there was a problem with my room and they gave me other different than what I was paying for, it was a cheaper room and they only give back (in money) about 1/4 of what I paid even when I never got to sleep in the room I booked

Tbh I cant believe I am actually taking the time to write a bad review, Im normally not really the person to do this, but my stay at la cuesta was really the worst I ever had!!! They dont change the sheets, just make the beds with the same sheets used by another person... disgusting. Plus, weird staff, who have no idea how to respond to things or help you.. Place is dirty and stinks enormously. Good location tho but that is pretty much it. Worst hostel ever..

WORST!!!

At the end of our trip to Costa Rica, we just needed something cheap to sleep in and to store our luggage before we traveled again. We found this here and it was very good. From the outside, La Cuesta B&B looks like a Barbie house, pink and blue, just surrounded by NATO steel wire. The old building is not being torn down despite the construction of the new Congress Center, because it is historically valuable. That's why we found it here, and it was very nice. It's just crazy.

Huge bump! The living room look like a “under construction” site. The whole place is greatly dirty and dusty, and the bathroom... 
Now the real problem, there is a discotheque right on the next house. We heard it a LOT in the room and we are at the opposite side in the hostel. Some rooms are just at few meters away from the party!!
