Make sure you get your rate in writing, they will jack up the price 50% at the front desk otherwise The place is clean but in disrepair Hot water is sporadic and between 10:00 P M and 0800AM the water supply mysteriously disappears They blame the City but the Hotel is surrounded by businesses 
No A/C. Receptionists are very helpful but there is not manager on duty at any time Receptionist work 24 hours shifts (crazy). It’s no longer the family hotel it use to be It has become a sleazy hotel where the condoms price sign is displayed at the front desk
If you’re planning to spend more than a day in San José do not book this hotel

Terrible

I passed the noise of the street (the chaos is an integral part of San Jose, you can't blame the hotel) but the noises of the room neighbors are quite annoying, the rooms can be soundproofed at least a little.

It's a topaz.

It's a quiet place and in the center of San José, a good administration by Italians who are very good people. It has good old architecture, although a little forgotten, but it's still a good place. They should pay more attention to it because it's a little sloppy, but otherwise, it's fine.

 Calm down.

Located in a strategic point of San José, with a few steps you will be near the pedestrian Avenida 4 and the Chinatown (Chinatown pedestrian). Inside you will find two beautiful relaxation areas with sofas, colonial furniture and precious tropical gardens. If you are lucky enough to meet the Italian owner (Giacomo) you will have excellent support for every need... from the Casino to tours throughout Costa Rica.

Horrible 

I just got there and the attention was first from the first day, from the manager, the reception staff, the kitchen staff, the toilet staff, all are kind and with a vocation to service, I don't give the 5 points because little details of infrastructure are missing, which if cleaned, thank you very much.

Excellent attention from the new administration.

I visited that hotel for almost two years on a regular basis.The staff (some Italian gentlemen) were quite friendly, the hotel was very clean and had a good breakfast included.But recently the hotel changed management and the consequences have been disastrous, so I chose to look for better options in the capital.The treatment at the reception was quite inadequate, full of negligence, the person in charge was unaware of the operation of the hotel so they attended us with quite a torment.In addition, they did not have clean sheets available so they made us wait a long time for a room, the bathroom floor was full of hair from how many previous users, and we found little mole.Finally, the sermon site served a rough and typical private music room that appeared in the restaurant, which offered two sets of music for the day, if no one knew how many previous users, and we found little mole.

The new administration... sorry about that.

Looks sketchy from outside but much better on the inside. Same Decent breakfast everyday. Good clean rooms. Good security within hotel.... At night out the gate....???? Great Argentina restaurant across street. On site travel agent. Fans, t.v's. Catholic Church across street. Recommended @ $50 a night single.

Old, clean, good location.

Conveniently situated. This once must have been a nice old hotel. It now needs an update and a good clean. Staff helpfull, breakfast adequate (gallo pinto excellent). A lot of potential but needs  a good shake up with money being spent on it.

Seen better days

A comfortable place to stay, the treatment is friendly and everyone is very attentive. They themselves did us the favor of guiding us to move more easily and cheaply on our trip. Although all rooms are towards a common yard, we had no problem with noise from the guests or the noise of the street. Recommended and accessible.
