1680 reviewsA truly amazing experience. Rooms: We stayed in the Monarch Villa and it was absolutely incredible. The view from our balcony, forever sketched into my head. The space in the room, massive. Nice warm water for the showers and tubs. Wifi is quick and efficient. If you are looking for a Ritz Carlton type of design and style, you will be disappointed, however you are in the middle of the jungle, and for that, this place is perfect. Before we arrived, I was concerned about not have A/C in the rooms. It never seemed to be a problem. Restaurants: The food in all the restaurants is very good. The locally made cheese is to die for. My only problem with my entire stay, only one place to eat dinner, and the food is definitely over priced. Even in the gift shop, $7 for a bag of cheese puffs is a bit much. This, however, is not enough to deter me from coming back and staying. Grounds: Absolutely incredible. Green everywhere. Animals everywhere. It is a great touch to have the ability to get into the park and see the animals before the public can come. The trail along the waterfalls is beautiful and can take you anywhere from 3 hours to 30 minutes depending how quickly you move. We did it with relative ease with a 4 and 6 year old. A couple pools on site, two of them are super cold. The one pool that is tiered with a waterfall between the rooms has a nice large warm pool area. Surprisingly I didn't find the bugs to be too bad here. Service: Five star service. We were there for 5 days, and by the end, I felt like everyone knew us. We enjoyed all our conversations and the staff bent over backwards to help us. At times, we felt as though we were the only ones there. Compared to other resorts we have been to, we truly felt welcomed and appreciated. Special shout out to John and Michael, incredible guys. Tours: We did the frog tour, sloth/bird feeding tour and the Poas Volcano excursion. All fairly priced and worth doing, especially with little ones. Weather: Being from Florida, the daily afternoon rain is something we are used to and we utilized that time to relax and recharge in the room. This is a can't miss location and I look forward to going back!
