My husband and I went here as part of our honeymoon trip to Costa Rica. We were originally on the fence about making the trip to Orosi as it seemed to be a less popular spot (compared to La Fortuna, Monteverde, and Guanacaste, which we went to after), but we're so glad we did! It definitely felt like a more niche Costa Rican experience and the views in Orosi and especially from the Queveri Lodge were gorgeous. The room we stayed in felt like a serene cabin with beautiful views of the valley. There were nice walking trails on the premise as well.

Beyond the accommodations, the food at this lodge was amazing! Maybe I should have read the reviews more closely, but I was not even expecting the meals to be included and definitely not as much food as was served. Each meal was a 4 course homemade meal and the ingredients were clearly right from the farm (actually farm to table!). Everything we had was super fresh and delicious! We would definitely recommend the Queveri Lodge especially to couples wanting to do something a little different and less tourist-y. Staying here was definitely a highlight of our whole trip to Costa Rica!

Unique Experience and Delicious Farm to Table Food

We stayed 4 nights in this little paradise away from all the hustle and bustle. Amid 360° nature, the spacious wooden lodge is located on a mountaintop with insane views of a valley and volcanoes. Gisela spoils her guests from morning to evening with the most delicious dishes, snacks and juices in between. On our trip through this blissful country, this was undoubtedly a highlight. Hopefully one day we will be able to enjoy it even longer.

A natural gem

I just have to say, that our stay at this finca was spectacular from the moment we arrived until we left. The property is gorgeous, the views spectacular and you could have not asked for a better or more accommodating host (Gisela). Not to mention, an extraordinary cook! 

I wish we could have stayed longer! We loved everything about our stay! We hiked on the property, we played with the dog and spent time with the cows. One of the highlights of our stay was the horseback riding tour. The views were amazing and the horses were the most well trained horses we’ve ever ridden. Thank you so much Gisela for an experience I will never forget! I hope to go back again one day!

Wonderful stay!

There is a sign on the entrance wall of the Finca which says: “difficult roads often lead to great surprises” or something like that. And this is the truth: yes, the road is a dirt road and you better have a 4x4 car, but you are rewarded not only by the beautiful scenery offered by the chain of mountains and volcanos (Irazu and Turrialba) laying in front of you but also by the very friendly welcome of your host, Gisella. The Finca is her familial house, all in wood, transpiring a warm atmosphere. The room we had was large, with two beds, a private bathroom and a small veranda where we could sit in comfortable bamboo armchairs and enjoy the scenery, including the ballet of birds in the morning. Dinner and breakfast are served on an open terrace. There is a large common living room, with a little library of books left by former guests. We spent only one night at the Finca but if we come back to Costa Rica and visit the Tapanti National Park, we would definitively consider to stay at the Finca Queveri as a wonderful starting point to discover this region.

Well located, very friendly house

This was the most special part of our amazing trip to Costa Rica. Not many tourists make it to the Orosi Valley--despite its gorgeous beauty and the fact that it offers much that you find elsewhere, including rafting, horseback riding, animals, amazing hiking, birding, volcanos and even hot springs. But the most special part of our visit to Orosi was staying at Finca Queveri. Perched on the crest of a stunning, green mountain , with clousd clinging to its top, overlooking the gorgeous Orosi valley and adjacent to Tapanti National Park, this lodge is a on a cattle /dairy ranch (now mostly tourism but they have some animals). The lodge was built in 1930 by the family patriarch and is now run by three siblings who provide farm to table cuisine, horseback riding, and rustic but comfortable rooms. We had the entire lodge part to ourselves. We were welcomed warmly by Adriana, one of the siblings who was also our private chef for the week, and her brother, Roger, who oversees the animals. During our stay, in addition to seeing Irazu volcano, going ziplining and visiting nearby hot springs, we did the amazing horseback ride at the finca, where in addition to unbelievable views we got to see a newborn calf (just a few hours old) at the barn!  

The lodgewas also amazing--a gorgeous all wood mountain house built in 1930 with stunning views. We had the entire lodge to ourselves, with tons of space to roam and comfy couches from which to watch the views; we also explored the extensive grounds on a hike and enjoyed chilling out on hammocks.  Furnishing and rooms on are the basic/rustic side, but very clean and very comfortable beds and pillows (which is never a given when you travel!). We slept so well! 

And the food!  Breakfast and dinner were included in our lodging and they were amazing. Adriana made everything from scratch and from the farm and we got to try many new things. Even my normally picky kids were eating chayote soup and chowing down on beet, carrot apple salad. Food was tasty, fresh, copious and most of all, made in harmony with the land.  

Perhaps the best part was the personal, family style welcome we received. Adriana and Roger introduced us to their lives, and shared their family's legacy, in a wonderful and unique way that we could not have experienced in most other places in Costa Rica and that I know impacted my kids a lot. I highly recommend Finca Queveri if you want to unplug, experience a beautiful and quieter part of Costa Rica and/or bring your kids here to have fun exploring the farm and riding horses. 

Amazingly beautiful, peaceful mountain lodge with gracious welcome and great food!

The Finca sits above the Orosital with unparalleled views of the volcanoes and brings us to rest, wonderful food, lovingly prepared and explained, and such an attentive Finca family that told us a lot about life up here.

Traditional finca with slow food

The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The dinner was made fresh with quality ingredients. The presentation was that of a fancy restaurant. The property's location was exceptional with views of the volcanos and town below. The horse-riding tour was so much fun! The icing on the cake was playing with one-day-old baby cows! It was the perfect 2 days of peace and tranquility at the end of our trip. The hosts, Gisella and Roger, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. It really felt like we were staying with our friends!

Finca Queveri was the perfect end to our 10 day trip to Costa Rica!

Loved this place.  It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful.  Gisella was very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and a great chef.  She enjoys chatting so we had some great conversations.  Meals were delicious, plentiful and creative.  She made the best banana bread that was moist and bursting with banana flavour.  Went on the horseback riding tour in the morning and it was fantastic.  Lovely views from the top and got to see their working farm.  You can also walk to the farm on the trail.  It is a wonderful place to get away from the crowds and busyness of the more touristy areas.  

A Hidden Gem Away from the Crowds

This place leaves nothing to be desired.
Located in a stunningly beautiful flank of a hill (twenty minutes ride from Orosi, 4x4 highly recommended though), this charming ranch offers a  panoramic view of the area - including both, Irazu and Turrialba volcanos. 
And then there is Gisella - a passionate chef, incredibly knowledgeable biologist and the most charming person we‘ve encountered in a long time. Incredible!  
We stayed there for three nights with our five-year old, who fell in love with Gisella (who in turn kept spoiling him with a never-ending supply of drinking chocolate and cake) - so yes, the place is family-friendly too. 
Also did the famous horse riding tour - which is definitely worth doing.

We did not feel like leaving at all

Great 2 night stay in an authentic rustic and charming family owned Costa Rican posada.  Caring hospitality and great conversation.   We had the 3 rooms in the farmhouse so all to ourselves for family of 4.  Comfortable beds, good bathrooms and very relaxing.  The farmhouse is 1930s - think similar to wooden ski house in NorthEast US.   Very charming.  The included dinner and breakfasts were phenomenal and we plentiful.  We also went on a great horse ride up the mountain and learned more about their working farm.   Wifi worked very well for remote working.  A sturdy 4x4 car is required but the road is worth it!  A great find.
