Bella Vista Mar

Bella Vista Mar is a great hotel with a lovely view of the Costa Rican coastal line. See below for some highlights which are handy for your visit: - Make sure you have the exact location / route printed out or clearly visible on your navigation. The place can be a bit tricky to find. - It's a gravelroad getting to the hotel. When I was there in March 2019 it was easily accessible by 2WD. - There's a lovely breakfast available! Great pancakes and omelettes. - The swimmingpool is great - Amazing views and always clean - The beach is about 10 to 15 minutes walking distance - Next to the beach there are some great restaurants - Booking in advance is recommended. (Especially for La Luna, which has a great sunset view) - Rooms are great and tidy. Showers are good as well. - There's quite a lot of fun stuff to do and see around the area, so you can easily stay here for a week without getting bored. Having your own car seems pretty mandatory though, otherwise you'll be tuctuccing all day. Just one remark I have to make: I specifically booked this hotel because it was near Ostional Beach. Even though it was off-season, I wanted to witness a turtle nesting. There was a slight chanceof seeing one when searching online beforehand - and when I had emailcontact with Bella Vista Mar, they mentioned that there's always a chance of spotting sea turtles near Ostional. When I got there, the assistant manager bluntly said that there are no turtles. It is off season and I won't be able to spot any. I felt pretty betraited, as the hotel said something different when I contacted them several months before my booking. Luckily, the owner of the hotel (a wonderful and super-nice lady) came with a different story when I spoke to her later that day. She said that there's a small chance of spotting them and the beach is only 30 minutes away by tuctuc, so it is definitely worth the try! This 'peptalk' from the owner gave me some more energy and I started looking into ways of getting a guide and do a Turtle nesting tour. This all went down smooth and my girlfriend and I actually witnessed a turtle nesting. We loved it! So again, compliments to the owner of Bella Vista Mar, she is a charming women who made our stay memorable.
