My experience was incredible, tasty food and the attention was very good from the owners. apart from the beautiful backyard, I was surprised that there was a live music event, the next night I was able to participate in the karaoke night.

Come and enjoy.

We got off to a bad start when the guy who hosted us made us wait and before saying hello he asked us for the money directly. He also didn't give us any information about the hostel. The room was very expensive for what he offered and was dirty, with other customers' hair on the sheets and bathroom. In the afternoon and night they didn't respect the silence, they talked too loudly. There is no kitchen, only a miniature refrigerator. In one month in Costa Rica, it was the place where we paid the most and where we enjoyed the least. The only good thing about it is that it is in the middle of the city very close to the terminal and restaurants.

 Disappointing.

Everything was very rich, the food, the drinks, etc. The decoration of the hostel and the restaurant was very nice, the customer service was super, I have no complaints about anything if you go through Greece, I recommend 1000 x 1000 the super varied menu and for me the most important thing is that they accept pets.

Excellent place to stay.

The rooms, the food (super varied menu), the care and decoration of the Hostel are excellent, perfect for staying or simply spending a pleasant afternoon in the garden with family or friends. 100% recommended!

For the purpose of this review, I am refering to the white manager of the hostel who is from Europe. I believe her name is Anuk or Anouk as I do not know the spelling.

We spent a few nights at the hostel and we caught the manager lady from Europe,I think her name is Annouk in our room on 2 occasions. For some reason, the manager Anouk was in our room when we returned. When we asked her what she was doing in our room she started to speak in some other language and seemed extremely disoriented. She then left our room while still speaking in a different language. At first when she spoke Spanish to us - she told us that she thought that we had checked out - but since it was still way before 12 and since our luggage and cloths were set around the room- it was very onvious that we were still in the room and had not yet checked out. She was very strange and turned the conversation  around to ask us why we had not checked out. Check-out time is 12 noon and it was about 10:30 am so there was no reason to be in our room long before check out time! We wonder if she put her hands on our cloths or put her hands in our luggage? Why else would she be in our room?  We didn't notice anything missing but we did notice that our luggage was open upon finding her in our room and we know for certain that we closed our luggage before we left the room. She must have heard us talking as we approached our room door and quickly stopped looking through our luggage and neglected to close our luggage as we entered the room.

Mangifera Hostel in Grecia,Costa Rica

I stayed at this place because the area is limited to hotels. I was met by a guy who was not very friendly and uncooperative. I couldn't sleep at all because there were guys (not if they were guests but if it was on the hotel balcony) drinking and smoking outside my room like late at night. I myself had to go out and tell them to keep quiet and that I was getting their cigarette smoke in my room. There was no toilet and no paper people, no owner or complainant. I wouldn't recommend this place.

There is no return or free of charge.

I stayed 3 nights in a 4-beds dorm (Wed & Thu I was alone, Fri we were two). When I arrived to the hostel the first impression was strange as the big house seemed without any guests. Apparently it fills up during w-e. Very clean, good hot water in the shower. Good kitchen where you can cook. There is a closed veranda with a hammock upstairs and in the big garden some tables and chairs where you can sit. I did some cloth washing. The hostel is on the right hand of the central church, just in front of the park. Bus station is just 150 m. away. I went by bus + foot to Cataratas los Chorros and also by bus + hitchhiking (hard) to Bajos del Toro. Some tourists could arrange for just 50 usd. the Poas volcano + Bajos del Toro in one day. Mangifera's owner organizes tours at very reasonable price.

Ok hostel

We stayed at the Mangifera on our last night in Costa Rica to stay close to the airport and it was an excellent decision. The bathrooms are large and clean, as well as the rooms, the patio is very lively, it is super spacious and cool. All the staff of the hostel were very kind, including the help of a wallet in the bus terminal. The location is excellent and the room where we stayed had a beautiful view of the plaza Possibly the best hostel of our entire trip, even if we wanted to stay one day!

Excellent hostel at a very good price.

I was traveling with a friend that had never stayed in a hostel before. Our lodging fell through, and fir the luck of us we ended up here. Traveling around CR we ended up here several times! Don't miss out on this one. Marco is a wonderful host and a wealth of knowledge. The rooms are very clean, as is the kitchen. The back garden is an oasis in itself. A must stay if in Grecia or surrounding areas!

In 5 weeks of travel, it was one of the most expensive hotels we ever paid and it was, by far, the worst (34 dollars a night for 2 people). Our balcony bedroom had poor soundproofing and for some reason, it lacked half the window. It was the only room available. No compensation on the price. Average bed. More than average staff. Short to avoid.
