We were in a stressful situation because the hostel that I originally had booked in September was actually closed when we arrived, and we were wandering around Santiago with all of our luggage and limited Spanish. We stopped in a cafe and Pilar happened to be there and she overheard our predicament and offered us a room. It was better than we could have asked for; the room was very cozy and clean, the shower was good, the bed was comfortable and it was close to the Metro. Pilar is a lovely person, very helpful and caring, and not only made us breakfast every morning but packed us sandwiches as we were leaving on our last day. She was really wonderful and we are going to miss her.
