I was happy to find this lovely, reasonably-priced Airbnb in a nice neighbourhood a short drive to the museum (a must-see!) and the Harbourfront Walkway (great views). It was spotless, comfortable and very quiet. The kitchen was well-sstocked. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda in front with a pretty garden and a view of water in the distance. I would highly recommend this Airbnb! 

Perfect place to stay!

I had a wonderful stay here. When I walked in it felt like I was at home. 
The suite is spotless and the kitchen is very modern. It has everything you need and more. There are great views and the place is located next to a large park.  
The hosts are great with communication and even let me use their washer/dryer!

Modern, homely and welcoming.

We stayed here one night for a stopover traveling through Nanaimo.  Nice location close to downtown with close access to highway.  Really great suite with kitchenette and small living area.  Well designed functional space.  Private entrance.  Comfortable beds.  Spotlessly clean.  No breakfast provided but kitchenette well-stocked with utensils etc allows you to prep your own easily.  Communication with owners before and during stay was great, clear instructions.  One small suggestion for improvement - use of scented products in the unit was a little overpowering for those sensitive to scents.  All in all highly recommended.

Great Stopover

Only had chance to stay here one night before an early morning ferry but it was a lovely home from home place to stay. Very quiet residential area but only minutes from the ferry. Wayne and Michelle were great from the start, answering e-mailed questions straight away making the booking very easy. Directions to the house and entry details were spot on and the light left on over the door as we were arriving about 10.00pm after a whale watching sunset trip. A very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, sitting area and kitchen. A great way to start a holiday.

Great place near ferry port

We came to Nanaimo for a short getaway and are very happy we chose AnnArthur Guest House. The place is exactly as the pictures show. Hosts Wayne and Michele were lovely. Questions asked before we arrived were answered promptly. Wayne greeted us wearing a mask, which was appreciated. The apartment was very clean and incredibly well appointed with very comfortable furniture. Good coffee and cream in the fridge were really appreciated. We will come back here.

Four night getaway - beautiful place!

We choose this guest house due to its close location to the Ferry port , as we had driven across the island and needed to catch the ferry early in the morning. The guesthouse is in a residential are , but not a great view as it overlooks a cemetery. Its very easy to find and is in a close location to the old town so easy to find somewhere to eat . Owner was at the house when we arrived, wasn't a particular friendly welcome and we were seen straight into the house. The owner had a list of rules and information he read out to us , and then had a card machine ready and asked us to pay the balance virtually as soon as we entered the house. He then took us on a tour around the suite, which is very modern and clean. However it didn't feel very homely or cosy, more cold and clinical and there was an odd mix or modern design and then out of place older style furniture. Bedding didn't match on the bed and could have done with some larger bath towels. Kitchen was well appointed and had all the equipment you needed so we were able to have a breakfast before heading off to the ferry port. It is very handy to get to the ferry a very easy 10 minute drive , so I would recommend it for an overnight stay but not sure I would want to stay there for a longer stay

Great location close to ferry port, but not homely or a friendly welcome

The owners Wayne and Michele are very friendly. They live upstairs. She makes scented and moisturizing soaps. There were some samples in the bathroom. He bakes banana bread which is so yummy that seems a cake and he offered us on arrival and on the next day.

On arrival Wayne very helpfully showed us a binder with information about the Guest House and about Nanaimo: restaurants, tours etc.

Sometimes I was disturbed by the clatter of footsteps as the owners walked right above our room. Other than that, the place is extremely quiet. There is another room next to ours but the communication between the rooms is isolated by two doors. Besides that Wayne fills the space between the doors with styrofoam boards. We heard no sound coming from the adjoining room.

You can park your car in front of the house. You rise 4 steps and there is a nice garden and a porch with 2 wicker armchairs and barbecue at the house entrance.

It is a very welcoming house. The entrance ambience is all glazed with views of the sea and mountains in the background. To the right is the living room with a very comfortable sofa in front of the TV. And there is still a big comfortable armchair.

To the left is the full kitchen with large and powerful refrigerator, 4 burner stove and large and powerful oven, microwave, Keurig coffee machine with coffee capsules, blender etc.

In the center of the kitchen there is an island with 2 large sinks and you can wash the dishes watching the fantastic view. (Only what can not go in the big dishwasher). Detergent sachets are available. On the other side of the sink there is a bench with two high chairs. (There is no table, but there is no need for 2 people).
There are a full kitchenware.
It is possible to do the laundry, but you have to agree with the owners, because although the washer and dryer are downstairs, the entrance is through their house.
A good sized room; the Queen bed with firm but comfortable mattress, the way my husband and I enjoyed it.
There is a small window above the bed with shutters. As in the summer the dawns are early and the night grows late, we missed a dark curtain, preferably with a blackout.

There are heating in all rooms and there is a split air conditioning only in the living room.
The bathroom's size is good and the water pressure is a little weak, but the bath is good.
In the backyard of the house there is a varied vegetable garden.
Tip: If you go to Point Place Shopping Centre ,  you can park 3 hour free. Park close to the Thrifty Foods. Do some shopping and you still have time to stroll at the front walk.

Friendly owners, nice view and quiet neighborhood!

We had one night at the AnnArthur Guest House on our way to Vancouver from Ucluelet, Vancouver Island. It was a delightful place for a stopover - less than 10 minutes to the ferry. The outlook was lovely, parking right out the front, spacious interior and fastidiously clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower and bathroom facilities were excellent. There were some lovely extras - coffee machine, banana bread on arrival, full-size fridge, oven and dishwasher. The owners live upstairs and couldn’t be more helpful. Highly recommend.

One night stop

We've only been here (unfortunately) one night and I can recommend this property without reservation. Wayne and Michele are fabulous landlords, helpful, uncompromising, humorous, generous. The apartment itself is well equipped, everything is very new, everything works. If we were back in Nanaimo, we would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful place to stay.

Only 10 minutes from the ferry terminal so it made an ideal overnight stay. It was modern, well appointed and comfortable with good kitchen facilities. Dining was on bar stools at the kitchen top and breakfast was provide even though it was not included in the price.
