Further to being cheap, it's perfectly located and has a very unique but adorable style! There was a note taped on the door waiting for me with the instructions on where to find my bed, all the walls are decorated with drawings and tourist tips, very nice living room with free computers, music instruments, and so on. They also have a free access kitcheen and a nice patio... really enjoyed being there!

Perfect for backpackers

The hostel is nice but it's too noisy to see, the smell of kitchens all over the house, the floor that cracks under every step, tiny showers, two toilets, the location is very good in old Montreal and not too far from the main activities.

A good place, but a bad place.

We stayed only one night as a stop over before a flight. The private room was small but clean and there was bedding and towels. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything that goes on in the kitchen/lounge. Bring earplugs as there's a lot of noise from the street outside too. We went out for the evening so when we returned at 2am all was quiet except outside. The girl on staff was very friendly and easy going. The decor is cool. There's a lot of instruments for use and laptops. We were allowed to leave our bags so we could go out before the airport which was cool so could come and go that day as the code still worked. Very pleasant stay over all. Although they need more toilets - only 2! And a shower downstairs. 

Small quirky hostel

Located in a tiny historical house in the vibrant heart of Vieux Montreal, cosy, unconventional.  Not at all the impersonal concrete & linoleum style you find in some other hostels.  Much seems improvised, but all with a lot of heart and thought and creativity, so it feels homely and practical.

Management usually isn't around when you arrive in the evening, which causes needless confusion for some, but it's not a problem, just pay close attention to the instructions that are provided.  Management is usually easy to reach in the morning and very friendly and uncomplicated.

It's all about the atmosphere!

The staff was very friendly, and the room was nice. This is the type of hostel you want to stay in if you are looking for a quaint place in a nice area. You walk outside and you are in one of the best parts of Montreal. Read some of the chalkboard writing on the walls of the hostel to decide where to go! If you're looking for a great location go here. 

Cons: I'm no bed snob, especially at hostels, but this bed wasn't the most comfortable. Room was awesome but maybe bring a pillow. Worth it! 

Great Hostel, better location

Stayed in a private room so I expected some quiet and privacy, but all the people from the dorm area (2nd floor) come down to the 1st floor where all the private rooms are,because the kitchen and lounge are are on 1st floor. They stay there until 2am talking very loudly even though quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am, called owner since they left a note saying to call in case it was too loud but nothing happened. walls are paper thin, everything can be heard. someone also pounded at the door for almost 30min one night until someone woke up to let them in. The place is not very clean, bathroom is always dirty only 2 toilets and 4 showers for all 30+ guests. They make you take your shoes off at the entrance to "keep it clean" but floor is dirty most of time and makes the place smell,so bring extra socks or slippers. There is a night club across the street so on the weekend be ready to wear earplugs or sleep late. parking is about 1/4 mile away and its about $20 a day. The street where the hostel is at is sometimes blocked to car traffic to you'll have to carry you luggage all the way from parking garage.

Bring earplugs and sanitizing wipes better yet go somewhere else

Very kind and available staff, the rooms are really charming and relaxing, the showers are clean, easily accessible because it's located in old Montreal, so don't hesitate to spend 2 minutes at the restaurant just below the hostel, where we ate the best poutine in Montreal.

The room for 22 people is very small for that number of people, the beds are separated by curtains.

To think.

The staff is very friendly and close. They are concerned about making their stay in the hostel the nicest, and about making themselves feel at home (but in college homes, because there are a lot of young people, and common places to share... yes, there are no parties or noise). The decoration is great (I don't know how to describe vintage, hippie, punk?). It is very clean. The only drawback is that the bathrooms are shared, but they are clean enough. But above all, the best is the location. in the middle of the historic center with suburban prices, that is, it is very cheap for the place and the convenience, as it is in the middle of the tourist spots and three blocks from the metro.

Cheap, clean, and with a lot of fun.

A very cozy room with an electronic fireplace.To be a private room, it should have more privacy, but you could hear all the noise of people walking outside.The showers were one floor higher and were very few for the number of people staying.The kitchen had everything needed to cook but was also very small.It was very uncomfortable to leave shoes in the entrance, the smell that was generated was very unpleasant.
