The room was nice and big, the hotel staff spoke English perfectly, the food was good and plentiful and the waitstaff was very nice...We would stay there again and recommend it to everybody...Architecture was in the Bhutanese style

Excellent location with good amenities, spacious and clean rooms. Staff is helpful and polite. Food is good.  Views from from are stunning.  Location is convenient. 
Opposite rooms had a view of Buddha statue.

Wonderful beginning

I really don't understand all of the neutral/negative reviews - I had an excellent stay at Hotel Amodhara! Perhaps travellers are expecting services beyond the 3 star hotel budget they've paid for?

This hotel is simply excellent.

Rooms are very large and spacious. Decorated with quality wooden floors. Beds are very comfortable (pillows and blankets were lovely) and extra blankets are provided on cold nights in Thimphu. The staff had turned on the heating in my room well in advance of my arrival, which meant that my room was warm and inviting upon arrival (thank you so much for your attention to this detail!). Most appreciated, since evenings were cold for me in Thimphu (even for a Canadian).

Rooms came with the basic 3 star hotel amenities - 2 bottles of water, 2 bars of soap, 2 little shampoo bottles, towels, an electric kettle etc. The room was equipped with a little tv with satellite, offering many English news and movie channels! On cold evenings in Thimphu, I cozied up in my bed, enjoyed a Hollywood movie and sipped some Bhutanese wine! Wifi struggled initially, upon arrival, but afterwards, the signal was very strong throughout my stay, even on the 4th floor where my room was!

Showers were amazingly hot! No shortage of hot water in this hotel! Pressure was excellent. Towels were ample and soft! Bathroom and toilets were clean! No complaints here at all.

If I needed anything in excess, like toilet paper, bottled water, or milk powder, staff were quick to replenish stocks with smiles and courtesy.

The only thing lacking in the rooms is instant coffee. Milk powder and tea were provided, but this country doesn't seem to be a coffee drinking coffee, and what coffee I have tried, definitely isn't coffee (it's more like a milk tea). But I had some Nescafé provisions on hand that I had picked up in other countries, so I was able to make my own instant coffee in the room. Lighting in the rooms definitely needs to be improved - rooms are quite dark, but, it's not a deal breaker (I opened the curtains during the day to let the light in). Rooms also come with furniture like a couch, table, etc., which actually served its purpose!

What makes this hotel stand out truly are the staff. I have very particular dietary preferences (meat protein and vegetables are my main feed, even when travelling), and the staff went above and beyond to ensure my dietary specifications were met for every meal. Travel in Bhutan is offered on a full board deal, and on this point I was most worried/concerned. Staff were just superb - they took great pleasure in preparing for me: chicken breast, steamed vegetables, side salads, fresh fruits, and hard boiled eggs for every meal! I cannot express enough gratitude for the staff at this hotel, and they truly went out of their way to ensure I was appropriately fed at each meal. Just fantastic, so thank you so kindly! 

Overall, staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely courteous. Upon arrival, I was offered a nice hot cup of "coffee" (read: tea), and staff were always on hand to assist in any way possible.

The hotel location is excellent - a 5 to 10 minute walk to the main town, where all of the shops and restaurants are located. You can find mini markets, restaurants, hotels, money changers, liquor, duty free, and supermarkets a very short and pleasant walk away.

Excellent hotel, definitely would stay here again! I had a comfortable stay and quiet sleeps!

Excellent hotel, with kind/courteous staff that go above and beyond for guests!

I had to stay here because this hotel was included in my tour package. The hotel itself was nice, limited hot water though, a bit annoying, the view was really nice from my room, the food at the hotel also made me really sick for a few days

Forced to stay here

The hotel is in good location, close to town and quiet. The view from the room is beautiful. We stayed for only one night while on a tour. It would be a nice place for a longer stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The services were excellent. The bhutanese foods were nice, liked most other places, but the hotel should try to cater for a few asian or western dishes for variety.

Nice Hotel

Location wise, is about 15 minutes walking from the main street where all the stores and the restaurants located, stayed only one night, everything about that hotel is average. Breakfast is not great, but supper was much better!

Ok Hotel

I reached Hotel Amodhara, Thimpu on 14th October, 2019 and left on 16th October, 2019 morning. I was provided two standard rooms for 5 family members which were truly mesmerizing, located beautifully, in house keeping was very good, rooms were well kept with electric kettle for tea making and free wifi. The breakfast and dinner (vegetarian) was not very innovative, the usual  routine  which was not very palliative for north indians.  In fact, they provide the same yellow dal in each dinner, mixed veg, the soup is awesome and what to say of fruit juice.  The hotel should try to cater more to the north indian taste because the cooks are local bhutanese and they don't know Indian taste.

Reassuring

The hotel has good location, a few minutes walk from the town. Food is average, the staff courteous. The property has a quaint and pretty look about it. The view from rooms is beautiful, like most other places in Bhutan. Overall, a decent 2 nights stay.

Good location

Stayed two nights. comfortable place. Ask for corner rooms and double bed if you are a couple.
The wifi is good. the breakfast and food is avoidable. The staff is courteous and helpful. It is walking distance from.main Traffic and thus walking around town is easy


No complaints 

Stayed in Hotel for two nights - Highlight of hotel is its location - at end of Thimpu market street gives you options for doing local shopping & access to bars & restaurants. 
Serves India cuisine for breakfast & dinner so good for Indian tourists. The hotel has lift, 24x7 hot water, staff availability. 
Negative is room’s size - it becomes crowded - not enough wardrobe space, one charging point only.
