When we arrived at the hotel it had only just reopened after its refurbishment and for the one night of our stay, we were the only guests. Our room had a KSB, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and the hotel provided two bottles of filtered water. There was a hairdryer and toiletries provided. Our room had no aircon or safe.  There was a swimming pool which we did not have time to use. We ate in the hotel as there were no nearby restaurants. The food was very good with a soup starter and then a large variety of vegetable dishes with a chicken and beef dish, final a fresh fruit desert. In the morning we had cereal, fresh fruit, with eggs however you would like. The staff we met were all very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Our bill which was only for a few local beers had to be paid in cash.

Just reopened after refurbishment

Lovely refurbished hotel in Thimpu. The interior is absolutely beautiful with decorated carved wood structures, silk cloth decorations and charming staff. The hotel also has a big indoor swimming pool, conference space and wedding reception space ! We swam in the pool which had separate changing facilities with showers too.
There’s an outside bar but we didn’t use it.

Beautiful authentically decorated and comfortable hotel

It is a very beautiful , full of character hotel. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Located close to town. Food is good enough to eat. We came here to see the country so food doesn't bother me at all. Just a short stay so didn't have a chance to check the pool.

Short stay 2 nights there

The hotel is within walking distance of Thimphu city centre. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were well equipped and had a pleasant atmosphere. The food was well prepared and tasted. The hotel is highly recommended.

Namgay Hertiage Hotel Thimphu

This hotel was booked as part of a package tour. The hotel is located within walking distance of the center of the capital of the country, so you can go back to the city in the evening if you want. The hotel itself seemed a little older and in need of renovation, but most of it was clean and functioning. Only the WiFi was bad and we were much better served with our own SIM card. The food was solid but not particularly good. The dining room also looked more like a conference room and wasn't as inviting. The service was, as is often the case in Bhutan, very friendly.

It has nothing to do with the pictures in Hotels Homepage. Located very well. 5 minutes walk to the City. Quiet.

This and that

This was the first hotel I stayed in Bhutan. It was very quaint and has character but the heating is poor. So the room and the hotel itself is very cold in winter. Food for dinner and breakfast were ok. 

Quaint hotel

Good Location (within walking distance to town centre). Lovely (Bhutanese) décor.
There was no shampoo & only 1 dental kit in the bathroom when we checked in. We had to ask for the toiletries. The room was very spacious but had only a small heater besides the bed & a bigger one in the sitting area. We tried to switch the heaters but the plugs couldn't fit. The plug for the hairdryer didn't fit very well & we had problem using it. 
Though the WiFi works quite well, the tv reception wasn't very good.
The mattress was firm & very comfortable. We slept very well.
The food was generally very bland & not warm enough.
The staff was very friendly & helpful. 
We visited the hotel spa & would have enjoyed the 'hot oil' massage much better if the spa room had better heating.
Even though the hotel claim to accept credit card payments, we couldn't pay via credit card.

Good Location. Poor Heating. Friendly Staff.

We spent two nights here and the rooms were fine and service good.  However, the food was not always hot which somewhat spoilt our stay. The views were amazing from the public rooms - as were not in the hotel very much the food was not a problem.

GOOD LOCATION WITH VIEWS OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEY

Arriving at the hotel looked more modest than it really is.From the time of arrival the kindness of the staff is notorious.We were greeted with a tea that we really needed.The room was impeccable with good heating system.The food and breakfasts were varied, delicious and for all tastes.Recommended.
