Booking through booking.com does not give you an easy way to get charged and not a decent receipt to be expected. Rooms are deprived of a normal dust bin (only for hygienic thingies in the toilet), coat hanger, power socklets close to the beds .. check in is not automated and there's not enough staff to give good opening hours. 
Breakfast is ok for this price. 
In average I would call this lodgings rather not good value

low budget yet not good value

Stayed here for a week with school, beds were awful (no duvets, blanket that hadn't been washed in months), mosquito bites everywhere even though none in other hotels. Shower scolded my scalp - I may have to go to hospital. Caught a nasty illness due to how unclean it was. Food was borderline, little flavour and made me feel unwell. Spend the extra money and go to a hotel, seriously.

Absolutely awful

I stayed here for one night, it's a very empty, sad place. 
But I had to sleep outside on a bench in front of the front door.
an employee made a mistake with resetting the entree code, so i couldn't get in at night. There is no reception / night person. I tried all the doorbells, and couldn't find a phone number for emergencies. 
I still had to pay for this night, but they offered me another night in the next 2 weeks. Well... they won't see me again.

horrible experience

The place tries really hard to be a cool place and i have to compliment them on that, however it feels.... interesting. The rooms feel strange, more like kids rooms with low beds (why not bunks? more privacy!) and "swimming pool" ensuite showers. Even though it was late September, our room got super hot at night. The reception dude was friendly and funny, there was a bar that wasn't open and heaps of signs aimed at "backpackers"  During our visit we did not encounter any other travelers though, a bunch of guys in our room that seemed to just hang out at the hostel all day? and a few groups of school kids, some business people. The complimentary breakfast is generous and good.

Interesting hostel

As a hostel, I would say it's discreet, clean rooms and friendly staff, great as a location to get to the tomorroland quietly without spending too much money.

Discrete

I found my room perfectly satisfactory, as was the breakfast (I love hot chocolate, and I could have as many cups as I wanted). I also found the lockers outside very helpful. I left my bag in one on the day I checked out, as it is quite near the train station (another plus). I also found a nice walk to my convention in the city center that took only 15 minutes. On the other hand, there is rarely any staff there. When I came and paid, the incompetent clerk gave me my key to my room, but not the password to get into the hostel. Then the next evening he told me that I had not paid, tho' I obviously had. Then his boss piped up and told me that to leave the hostel!

A place of contradictions

Quiet area, modern building, neat and perfect for relaxing after a day of visiting. Recommended and affordable. Close to the university area, railway station and other means of transportation.

A summer trip.

Estuve 5 nights hosted at the Hostal De Zandpoort. It is located in the university area. The quadruple room is spacious, modern and comfortable, and has 2 individual beds and a single bedroom. It has a bathroom inside the room. Everything very clean. The breakfast was a free buffet, in which there was some embroidery, milk, coffee, juice, bread, and some bakery. You can walk to the shopping area, as it is nearest to the hostel, about 10 minutes walk. The train station is about 15 minutes walk from the hostel. In short, it is a budget accommodation, ideal for traveling with friends or family.
