We arrived by train as I had told the receptionist the week before. We were to be met in the car park in Bad Mitterndorf, but when we called this was not possible. There are no Taxis within 20 km and the busses don't run at 1800 so we were stuck with staying in a hotel in Bad Mitterndorf on our first night. We convinced a friend that had travelled by car to return down the mountain to collect us so be aware if you are travelling by train that you need to get up the toll road to the "mountain car park" to be collected by a snow mobile.
The rooms had no bath room or shower. there were shared facilities down the corridor. 
The sauna facilities are there but you need to pay extra.  The bar staff were friendly and the food was OK. Note Breakfast starts at 800 on the dot when the doors are unlocked! 
There was No air conditioning in our room and it was cramped and smelly.

Small Stuffy rooms with no en suites

The hotel is located next to the gondola, is simple - with a communal shower and a communal toilet. The rooms are equipped with balcony - overlooking the beautiful nature of the Tauplitzalm. The chef is very hardworking and friendly! The breakfast is very good and offers a lot of choice - tea, coffee, yogurt and cereal, sausage, cheese, eggs as well as fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. For €45,- per night in the double room, including breakfast, it is definitely worth its price. There is also the possibility to eat in the hotel at night - small card, affordable prices!

A simple, clean hotel with good value for money

This place is beyond aweful. It is so bad on every level. The rooms are dirty bed bug ridden and small. compared to the other choices of hotels for the same price or cheaper this place is over priced for what you get and it was dirty. The facilities were inadequate. The 'ski' room was a joke. There were no facilities in the room for ski prep. They didn't even have a thermometer any where nor could they tell you the temperature or weather. The people who ran the hotel had no knowledge of the weather, the mountain or local tracks - we were there during heavy snow fall and fog and it would have been good to have some local knowledge but they didn't know anything about the area or the runs. The owners were extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming and made it clear they were only interested in your money. They even charged us for tap water every day. The food was a joke. The breakfast was rice crispies and stale milk, cold watery coffee, plastic cheese and over processed ham with cheap cardboard white rolls. we begged them for eggs on morning and my friend was voilently ill afterwards with food poisening. For dinner they served us square frozen fish fingers the cheapest kind you can buy with under cooked white rice and over boiled have rotted cauliflower dessert was chesnut paste in a small bowl with canned whiped cream squrited on top - it was a joke but we were starving after a whole day skiing and we were stuck on the mountain at night. The food just went from bad to worse the week I was there and the owners got more and more sullen. There are some really lovely hotels and cabins in the area but this place is NOT one of them and it is way over priced for what you get but the bed bugs are probably free.
