My boyfriend and I stayed here for 7 nights and really enjoyed our time here. The beds beds were confortable and the room had a very convenient small fridge which we appreciated. The kitchen, bathroom and communal area were lovely and clean and the view from the verandah was spectacular! Only downside was that the walls were very thin and so noise from other rooms carried very easily but there was a strict "no noise after 10pm" policy which was followed while we were there, so this was not too much of an issue. The owner Clarry and caretaker Maurice were also very friendly! Overall we would highly recommend Minto for those wishing to explore Brisbane by day and have a clean, comfy place to come back to at night! 

Great stay in beautiful old house

A great stay, single room with comfortable bed, next to a bathroom. I was there for a conference and it was very easy access to the Convention Centre.

Fantastic Hostel

I stayed for 3 nights recently at Minto. It is an unexpected rare gem in a city of bad hotels and worse customer service.  The manger Jen was efficient and delightful.  The place is spotlessly clean and is beautifully decorated -- kitsch but in a good way.  The shared facilities are spotless.  It was very quiet, calm and peaceful.  The front deck is a lovely place to relax and soak in some sun. Great location (walking distance to city and southbank) ad bus stop out the front. I will stay here again. 

Calm oasis in city

What great value! It's like a home away from home. You get a private room which is clean and well kept, it's quiet so you can get a good nights sleep and the facilities include everything you could possibly need.  I'd also like to thank the staff as they are really friendly and helpful. The location is central but just far enough away from the madness.   It's a great alternative to the crazy inner city hostels and more like a home away from home.

Great Brisbane Location, Amazing value and really friendly helpful staff

My wife and I stayed here whilst I was working in Brisbane. I couldn't do the city hostels anymore because I had to be up at 5am for work and staying in party dorms wasn't helping. Minto was perfect for us though! 

The building itself is beautiful and the rooms (we stayed in a few) are really well maintained, very comfortable and some come with their own fridges and tv. They are great to relax in. 
The communal area has a big tv and lots of books and games.
The wifi is good and fast and cheap if you get it long term. 
The kitchen is spacious, clean and has everything you need including free tea, coffee and condiments as well as a few other bits and pieces. There's one washer that's 5 dollars to use and loads of space to hang washing out, including a sheltered area for bad weather (there's a laundrette 2 mins walk away too). 
There's a nice deck area to sit and eat/drink/chill with a view of the city.
The bathrooms are always clean, with good hot showers and free shower gel, shampoo, moisturiser and sun cream.
Each room has towels and flannels provided. 
The place is really chilled out and quiet which is why it's a good place if your working and just need a place to relax.

Location wise it's brilliant. West end is a fifteen minute walk away and south bank is a ten minute walk. There's a bus stop right outside where the bus will take you through west end and into the city centre. 
There's quite a few restaurants 2 mins walk away and a convenience store too.

The staff are amazing. Clarry the owner is really friendly and invited us out for a welcome drink the week we arrived. Jen the manager was fantastic and always made sure we got a good deal on our room whenever we extended our stay and always sorted any issues we had. James the caretaker was really friendly and was always there to help us with anything and Chantelle the cleaner was also really friendly and did a great job keeping the place spotless! 

One thing to mention, it is asked the kitchen to be used after 9.30pm to cook as the are rooms just off it and because it's an old building, sound does carry. This never bothered us though and I found as long as I was quiet when making myself something to eat, even at 5am, no one was bothered.

We loved our stay here and were sad to leave. We'll definitely stay again if we're ever in Brisbane.

Could have stayed here for 6 months

The house is designed in a beautiful colonial flair. From the double bed room what is shown here you can also get to the terrace where we can all be, actually every photo looks almost the same. It's actually just enough for a couple, so the biggest problem was that the window on the right side is totally leaky, even if it sounds like it's like the car that's rolling over us on the street every day (and that's with earplugs). From the window room you can also get to the terrace where we can all be, actually practically every photo but you can hear the word when people are in there and the smoke is also coming in at your door. So from 6 o'clock in the morning you can definitely not sleep because the streets are very busy, and every bus is not doing so much.

It's a nice colonial flair, but unfortunately that's not enough...

Nice hotel with its own charm on Highgate Hill in Brisbane. Vin there is mn in about half an hour's walk from the centre/Financial District of the city. It sprays Victorian flair, for example through the bronze bathtub with eagle feet in one of the Shared Bathrooms. Our room was quite small, but we were only there to sleep. It was also perfectly ok. It was right next to the living room, so we still enjoyed the DVD sounds that were watched there. It was clean and the owner was very nice and friendly.

I chose this hotel through which the website www.booking.com and it really brought me an unpleasant surprise since less hotel you can call it anything. Of course Brisbane is expensive, and there aren't many economical alternatives...but this site has no waste. It is located relatively close to the center, perhaps only a 25-minute walk away and the metro/train stop is barely 10 minutes away.

I booked it as a hotel... we'll leave it in the hotel!!!

This hostel is a beautiful colonial cottage, ideal for those looking for accommodation in complete freedom and peace: you will be sure to sleep but it does not offer many possibilities to socialize.
