My husband and I stayed here for three nights with another couple with whom we were traveling through Southwest France. We had a suite that featured two bedrooms and a shared bath with a nice shower but no tub. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were spotless and offered good comfort. The bedrooms had no closets but there was one to share in the hall. Though neither room had a TV, the breakfast room on the ground floor had one for guests to watch. The lovely house sits in an idyllic rural setting about a 6-minute drive from Montignac, where we had many restaurants to choose from. We especially enjoyed our dinner at Perimousin, Place Touray, overlooking the river. Also close-by were Lascaux, Sarlat, Domme, Beynac-et-Cazenac and other charming towns. Alain, who operates the B&B with his wife, Evelyn, gave us many good suggestions regarding places to visit and directions on how to reach them. He was one of the most genial hosts we have interacted with during our B&B stays worldwide. His English is good, but limited (Evelyn speaks no English), yet he was always able (and delighted) to answer our questions. Continental breakfast (included in the room price) was the only meal served here. It consisted of tea, coffee, excellent jams, bread, croissants and fresh fruit. During our stay, delicious strawberries were in season and we looked forward to seeing them in bowls on our table each morning. The sole drawback to our stay was the lack of wi-fi in our rooms. The only place we could get a signal was in the hallway near the ground-floor entry door. The four of us would huddle in this space to work on our laptops and I-Pads at the beginning and the end of each day. Alain plans to update the wi-fi system so that future guests will have access in their rooms. I give my highest recommendation to this lodging. Not only is it a great place to stay, but it provides excellent value. We paid 40E per couple per night.
