Our room No1 was an accessible room with lowered bath and grab rails, high seat toilet (no lock on the door in case of accident)
The bed was comfortable, TV and tea making facilities.
No hairdryer but I never asked at the desk.
Come out of the room to the breakfast room and entrance lobby.
Continental breakfast help yourself to toast and cereal.

Lovely hotel and good value for money. We were greeted by Inese on arrival. She was very welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional .  
Plenty of parking on site, and lots of clean green areas to walk the dogs.
Room was large and clean.  Only one socket,  and no USB sockets in the room - worth noting.
Bathroom is adequate, clean, with good shower over the bath. Toilet flush insufficient but not a major issue.
Reception is open 24/7, staff is friendly and helpful. They are selling some essentials, too.
Breakfast basic, but fine. You also get a use of microwave and a toaster.
Nice cafe bar next door serving lovely food all day.
Unfortunately dogs are charged £15 per dog per night - works out quite expensive.
Otherwise great hotel with loveliest staff.
Already booked to stay again.

We needed accommodation late on a Friday evening due to a booking mixup somewhere else. The receptionists were helpful and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable and good value. The breakfast was varied and was good especially for the price.

The Redwings Lodge in Rutland is a good value for money motel, situated on the A47. It used to be a Travelodge, until it changed hands.

Pros: Great value for money if you expect to use the motel as a base for a night or two. Breakfast typically included, even if it is just toast, cereal, and drinks. The bed was very comfy, and the room was very clean. The shower was warm, and the bathroom was in good condition. The ooms come with fans, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The motel has free parking too.

Cons: Breakfast is served in the reception area of the motel, so I'm not sure how the place would cope if every room was occupied and every family wanted breakfast at the same time. The parking is free, but there's an ongoing dispute with the restaurant next door at the time of writing meaning they don't share between them. This really needs to be resolved and they should work together. Finally, it could do with a bit of a refresh across the reception area and rooms, but nothing is a deterrent. These cons aren't enough to lose a star, just recommendations.

Great budget hotel, good restaurant next door, lovely views and surroundings! Room was big and spacious,clean and comfortable! Staff were great especially receptionist at front desk! Superb stay and will definitely be staying again soon! 


We stayed for 5 nights while working at the Global Birdfair on our stand. It was just a 20 minute drive away. The hotel gave us everything we needed. A long hot bath after our tiring, chilly wet days in the marquee was very welcome each evening. The room was spacious and clean . We appreciated the extra bed being made up ready for us. All the staff were so friendly and helpful...we especially want to thank Anna for lending us pens and the night security man for giving us breakfast ingredients at 4.30 a.m. on our last morning before driving home to Devon. The Taste of India restaurant next door was ideal for easy evening meals and the short drive to Uppingham made for a pleasant local town visit. We will return.

Ok so it's a motel so not the Dorchester but priced accordingly. Staff are outstanding in attitude and very family friendly. They quickly deleted the Karen in the next room who was verbally abusing my family whenever I would leave the room. Rooms and beds warm and clean. Breakfast included is basic. Would have been nice to have access to a fridge. The staff are what made this a 5 star stay.

stayed here for the battle of the proms concert. Fairly close by, friendly staff, breakfast a bit odd for where you have to eat it so we went to cafe next door. Rooms were usual standard and fan in room was nice addition

For basic accommodation we haven't experienced better. Nothing has been too much trouble including a room change to a cooler room. The breakfast, which is included in the extremely inexpensive price per day, is more than adequate. Lovely cheerful staff inspite of the tremendous heat. All in all nice little place and worth staying at. 

We have just returned from staying at redwings lodge in Rutland and had a great time. For the price we paid you could not fault this hotel. It was excellent value for money and close to uppingham, oakham and Rutland water. Would not expect breakfast at this price but the added bonus of breakfast was great- cereals, toast, yogurt, fruit, juices, tea/coffee. Room great- clean and tidy and had everything you need. Bathroom well equipped- shower a little tricky to get to right temperature but perfectly ok otherwise. It is a budget hotel so some things a little basic and looking a bit tired but all clean and well worth the price. Couldn’t fault the staff- they were lovely and friendly and happy to help with anything to improve your stay. Would definitely visit again - thank you Redwings for you hospitality and a lovely stay.

Cheap and Cheerful

Great value for money 

Pleasantly surprised. Booked this on recommendation by my parents that live in Rutland. The staff at check in were friendly and the room met expectations. We weren’t expecting basic breakfast in the morning so that was a welcomed addition. I’ve passed this place on the motorway a few times and would go back. The Indian restaurant seemed busy and Rutland Point had a lovely backdrop for breakfast. Will stay again.

An easy family stay

Everything at the hotel was very good. The girl that booked us in was pleasant and helpful. The room was quite large bit dated but clean. Continental breakfast as advertised was not! but was adequate for what we needed. Was the whole experience good value for what we paid...Nah Not really, We would though definitely stay here again in the future if we needed to be in the area.

A great value motel for a comfortable stay in Rutland

Grim motel on the main road, black mold in the bathroom.
Great staff though, friendly and tolerant of kids.
They shut down the Karen in the next room with ease. This gained the motel many stars. Its mainly a place for traveling workmen.
Stock up on booze because the petrol station next door is a rip off. So is the restaurant next door. Unfortunately no fridge in room! 

The staff are 5 star

Convenient, friendly  and ideally located.
