Whilst we loved the place mainly because of the owner, the bungalows aren't is a great shape. Showers, lightning need to be upgraded. Solar power is good and definitely ecological, but ensure it's sufficient to at least sufficiently light the room. Anyway some real highlights were the great food prepared by the owner, the day trip we did through the hotel visiting the mangrove and villages & transfer to Anakao. Thanks for the great stay.

Great stay, but bungalows need to be upgraded!

My room (the 4th) had no electricity at all and from about 9pm onwards there was no more light either... the floor of the room was slippery and dirty, towels dirty... mosquito hole from everywhere... no housekeeping in the room on a stay of 3 nights. No hot water and shower (we shower at the pipe). For a room at this rate for Madagascar, one should expect much better.

Very disappointing.

After a very late flight arrival getting to this hotel was hoped to be welcoming and relaxing. Two yapping dogs were first to greet us and jumped up at our arrival causing some damage to garments without any apologies or attention from the hotel owners. Having their own pets on site, I'm not sure if guests are allowed to bring their own: this was NOT a peaceful and calm start but one can understand the dogs' attitude when we later discovered we were the ONLY guests despite the patrons saying that it was their peak period. The evening meal was prepared despite our lateness and the kitchen staff must be commended for staying so late, but the price of the accompanying drinks was later discovered to be almost double that of other nearby establishments - so be forewarned should you find yourself compelled to stay. 
The location is right on the beach which is flat and very suitable for small children and the hotel is served by solar power, so make sure the lights are off when you vacate the room.

Isolated, empty and a rip-off

the ideal place for deep relaxation: beautifully secluded with a fantastic view of the sea and mangroves on a dunes 30m above the clean beach (which invites kilometers to explore in both directions) you are far from the lively Touri beaches of Anakao and Mangily with their annoying souvenir sellers, begging children and neppern-trailers of all kinds. The rooms are huge, the facility extensive and well maintained. The food is enthusiastic with refined sauces. The current manager Ashmil is extremely helpful, multilingual (!) and guest-oriented. There is really nothing to put aside except that the pool in August is quite fresh (big smiles)

The new owner of this place (Azhmi?) is a friendly guy who'll make you feel like home. He lead us through the little village a 15 minute walk away and we had a great experience meeting the locals there.

The bungalows are very comfortable, make use of solar power (you can charge a phone on the device, but not two, so bring a battery pack in case of heavy charge requirements). Showers are nice and hot if the sun's been out.

We also booked an excursion with the owner, which was an unforgettable experience paddling through the mangrove forests in a pirogue.

Be aware, though, that all of this comes at a steep price. At 18,5 EUR (around 60.000 Ar at the time of writing), the dinner is by far the most expensive meals we've had on the island, and excusions were upwards of 40 euros per person, which is extraordinary in this place.

If you don't mind spending a little extra, this is definitely a recommendation. Also: the road to this place is quite bumpy and dusty so be prepared.

Great experiences for a price

The manager is really very very nice!!! We were super welcomed with my lover. We were delighted with our stay and super happy to enjoy the pool. The rate is interesting for the service. I felt in luxury for a little night, but not too much with too much chichi... just what it takes. It's nice, clean! and quiet. Perfect.

I recommend it!!! Truly one of the best hotels I've made in Madagascar

We stayed at this wonderful place for one night during our 10 night tour of madagascar and I'm so glad we did. We were given a warm welcome by the manager on arrival and, after a friend quick check in were shown to our beautiful rooms. Everything is geared towards economic friendly tourism, with solar power and natural products. 
Once we had settled in the manager offered to take us for a friend walk to a local village, which was wonderful, as normally you are only shown around touristy places. I for one loved this experience.
In the evening we were offered a normal dinner, or if we would prefer an open fire where the food would be cooked and local musicians playing, it was and easy decision and I had one of the most wonderful, unforgettable nights ever.

Would go back in a heartbeat

We loved Caliente Beach Hotel! The manager was very gracious and into making our visit carefree. The location on a mangrove beach was wonderful; the cabins were spacious, clean, comfortable and well-appointed with traditional furnishings. Very quiet! We loved the food which had a French flair. We were part of a small group natural history tour. All of us loved this place and our boat trip to Nosy Ve.

Right on the Mozambique Channel this outstanding resort was a gem

Beautiful setting; friendly staff all gathered for a paradise stay. Quiet, the garden has beautiful trees and flowers. Several possibilities for excursions with this starting point. The rooms are large, beautiful and clean. There are two well-maintained swimming pools, ideal for cooling down in the tropical capricorn.

Stayed there one night whilst on tour. The hotel lies down a very bumpy/rutted dirt road and it fronts onto a beach - but it is not a great beach, however. Hotel complex comprises a number of individual "African Stye" huts set amongst the trees. Check in was quick and very friendly. We had room 9 that had a queen sized bed and a single bed, both with mossie screens. Beds were comfortable. There was a wardrobe, desk and roof fans. The toilet area was quite large with a sink, shower and a toilet.
The power situation is quite interesting - there is solar power during the day, but it is limited in what you can do (it wont run the fan). The generator only runs from 6-10pm - that is where you charge your phones, lap tops etc and run the roof fan! After 10 Pm  - no power - only darkness in your room!
There is a nice out door pool and a tortoise enclosure.
We had dinner there - zebu steaks with peppercorn sauce. Steak was perfectly cooked (medium) but was a tad tough. Wine was £10/bottle and a large beer was £1.50.
Breakfast was fine - fresh fruit, toast, eggs (onelette and fried) cookies and coffee/tea.
Bearing in mind where the hotel was it was adequate (good by local standards) THe hotel would be ideal if you want nothing to do, be quiet and chill out - not ideal for those wanting nightlife, but that is not why you'd come here.
WIFI is in the area around reception only!
