While the actual room was okay (not great) but okay the main issue was the 2 main ladies on reception (think they was the owners) at first they seemed friendly but you soon realise it’s just to sell you anything and everything for 10x the price what you get it If you walk out the hotel and go anywhere else. They continuously pressured us to book this or that with them when ever we left the room and every time we said are not sure what we are doing yet but it never stopped to the point where we was trying to sneak out the side of the hotel to avoid them it got that uncomfortable. 

On the last day when they knew by this point we wasn’t buying anything they was rude, gave dirty looks and didn’t say a single word on check out as they clearly expect that if you stay there you should pay 10x over the odds for trips/bus/laundry etc with them.

Family-run hotel, simple and clean rooms. Very friendly staff and great availability from the owners who checked in ahead giving us the opportunity to rest after a night on the bus and arrive at dawn! Highly recommended!

Optimal position

Nice room and bathroom. Balcony with great views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Mosquito nets were available but not necessary, since at least at the time of stay there were no/few mosquitoes flying around. Friendly very dynamic boss who provided you with the necessary information. Among other things, a boat tour was also offered at an increased rate, but with an English-speaking and very friendly boat guide, which compensated for the price increase. Check-in was already possible at 6:00.

Nice central accommodation

The outside structure looks nice, all made of wood. Even the staff is quite friendly: we arrived late at night, and despite this we had the opportunity to dine at the hotel. The room was really small, and above all dirty: very dirty sheets, a mosquito bed that hangs over the bed all dusty, walls full of signs of crushed mosquitoes. The bathroom was dirty too, and it didn't even have a window. Too bad, because instead the location is very convenient: walking down the surrounding streets you can easily reach a lot of restaurants and supermarkets, and a quarter of an hour walk away there is a portico from which you can sail to the lake.

Really dirty

We came here from a different hotel in the area, and we loved it here! The owner is able to comply to just about every request - laundry cleaning (done in one day!), bike rental, boat trip on Inle, airplane tickets (cheaper than those available online)... you name it. We were very happy in our rooms located just next to the hotel dining area - in the first floor. Breakfast was good and the staff very serviceable. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay, clean rooms, provides all services one can think of

We did not expect such a nice room, because the costs we had agreed upon by a telephone call were not high. Beds, wardrobe, etc match well, are made of teak and are cleverly arranged in the room.
But all of this was topped by the landlady herself, who is very competent, tough, helpful and friendly. You get the impression there is nothing which she would not be able to achieve. Especially thankful we were because she helped us to get to the elephant camp. She managed because she persistently tried one telephone number after the other. And when we left early in the morning -  before breakfast time - she not only brought us breakfast boxes, but also two mugs of coffee.

Sophisticated furniture and a very competent and helpful landlady

I stayed a few nights in this very cozy facility the staff is very available, especially the guy who takes care of the breakfasts and very kindly, as the very kind and the lady at the reception who tries in every way when possible to spill your money proposing to book a taxi, boat ride on the lake or something, the whole multiplied by x 3 times the price you can find around or x street directly from boat owners or various means

Greedy

I liked the friendly staff, especially since we had to do ankate check in, very accommodating. However.. we asked to switch our bungalow room, due to a foul sewer-like smell emanating from the shower area, and we were told quickly and not politely (by the owner, not the staff) that it was not possible because there are many guests that come and go. Reluctantly, we were given a different room, which was clean.

POSITIVE: rooms (as pictures: spacious, bright, beds ok) central location (3 min to market,  jetty, 1 min main road), nice breakfast terrace  (either eggs, rubber pancakes, soup- very limited and some fruits).NEGATIVE: noise (you hear everything from the neighbours: their talking very word, their breathing really. Street is busy and loud.), cleanliness (I had to get them 2x to clean the bath so there were no remains from previous guests), only plastic bottled payable drinking water.All this would be ok for the price. But there's the owner family: ALWAYS sitting at reception, watching your every move, constantly trying to sell something (30,000 for the boat trip when at the jetty I paid 15,000. They stopped an employee from refilling my water bottle "because that way we can't sell the water"). Grandpa is sitting in a chair all day making comments, scolding me for booking online versus with them directly), grandpa moves around making those disgusting throat clearing noises, spitting everywhere. If it had not been for  Bee, a young woman running the place for a brief period, I would have left. She was the only one visibly working there, single handedly did breakfast, reception. Very efficient, super friendly and accommodated even guests who showed up for breakfast 50 min late. Her skills and personality were very impressive. Bright, capable, ambitious young women like her will make a difference. Once she is gone, I would not stay at Teakwood.
