The rooms were very clean, though super tiny, the staff very friendly, but it doesn't have a 24 hour reception, and when I was there, it got completely over-crowded, there were people sleeping all over the place, even in the bathroom.
It has free Internet connection, and you receive a password to open the main door at the reception.
Only 2 bathrooms, and a restroom.
Although I had a great time, and met great people there, I didn't feel very safe, especially after I saw a guy from the reception smoking weed or something.
I wouldn't come back.

Very well located, but a bit disorganized.

I paid for a 4 bed hostel room and got a 6 bed. They stick you wherever is most convenient for the fairly awful staff. It's a weird juxtaposition, the house is pretty relaxed and comfortable. It's actually one of the nicer hostels I've stayed in for its price range but the staff are only there for a few hours each day and when they are they disappear in the back for the majority of the day. They leave a sign up front saying leaving a phone number to call, but it just rings the front desk and nobody answers. In the few days I stayed here I think I only saw someone at the front desk for maybe two hours total. When they were there they were beyond rude and would loudly fight with other patrons or staff. They don't give out room keys and the house is always unlocked and open to the public. This makes them kind of paranoid and several times they had the gall to accuse me of not having paid or not staying there because that's how disorganized they were. I would have to provide a copy of the receipt and they wouldnt even apologize, just roll their eyes and sigh with apathy.

They also cranked up the air conditioning every night to the point that it was nearly 60 degrees next to my bed at night. When I asked for blankets, they gave me two sheets. I ended up having to take all the clothes out of my luggage and folding it on top myself to stay warm at night. 

I would have complained more but everyone else in my room was already doing that and they wouldn't listen to them so.. what was the point. Several of us intended to extend our stays initially but just changed to different accommodations because it was that bad.

Oh, and the view the speak of.. out of only one lower bathroom in the back of the house you can barely see downtown. What is visible (and audible) from the entire house at all times is the huge amount of construction taking place at the lot next door.

Rudest staff, so rude it's almost comical

This was my first night in LA and first night in a hostel and it ruined both for me, I was under the impression it was near the central LA it wasn't, I was also advised to to leave the hostel after dark I was given no covers for the bed, it was warmer outside the hostel than in the room I had to put 4 layers of clothes on and still didn't sleep. Reception apparently called me a taxi for the next morning but that never arrived. The shower was like ice, I had to wash my hair in the sink. There was a guy sleeping on the sofa upstairs so I couldn't turn on any lights. I finally got up at 4am after 3 hours of attempting to keep myself warm with no sleep and sat In the living room in 4 layers because the house was so cold.

My taxi didn't arrive and the hostel had no one I could ask or a phone I could use to contact another one, in the end my mother who is in England told me to download uber as the Internet seemed to be the only thing that actually worked at All. 

Never ever Again

If they want a clean, moderately comfortable, and cheap place, they can consider this place. A block from the Plaza Mariachi subway. Good wifi. They can cook, thus saving more. In hot weather, they should put air conditioning.

 An economic option.

I booked two nights here, first night went fine, second night I came back to the hostel around midnight to find someone else had been checked into my bed and my belongings that were on the bed dumped onto the floor. The staff member on night duty would not assist with obtaining alternative accommodation (which they are normally required to do), and after my own attempts to find a hotel with vacancies in the middle of the night failed, they gave me a sleeping bag and let me sleep on the floor in a corridor.

In the morning, the staff failed to apologise for my circumstance, were unable to organise a refund and didn't even have the correct contact details for their manager. Eventually they found a staff member to provide a refund who did so reluctantly and again without apology until finally it had actually been processed. 

The accommodation is clean enough, but their staff are incompetent and have zero customer service skills. 

And technically the company breached their contract under law. Avoid them if you can!
