My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in a tent. In a tent it is the cheapest but they also have rooms available and if we returned we would plan to sleep in a room because in the store you would hear cars passing, even though it is in a quiet area. Very good breakfast, cereal, fresh muffins... The kitchen and bathroom were fine, the shower was fine. In the area there is free parking and surveillance cameras. The staff of the accommodation is very friendly, there is a good atmosphere and you will always find locals passing by the bar, not like other accommodations where only tourists are seen!!!

I loved this place. The staff was amazing and was always helping me where I needed help. The vibe feels like home, unlike Observatory backpackers, and Aanda and Arthur were great people to meet. The cleaning ladies were amazing and respectful of my items and personal space. They wanted to always ensure that my door and locked and that my things were safe. Damn, I will miss this place.

My room was also amazing and they offered towels so that I could wash and dry. Amazing staff!

Stay here if you are looking for a great hostel!

I absolutely enjoyed my stay  at the Green Elephant,  and the lady at reception Sikelelwa I think her name is, was very helpfully very welcoming and friendly and she made me feel at home after a long tiring day of activities. I really will be choosing The Green Elephant as my first option going forth. The room was the best choice.

Friendly Staff and Excellent, Clean Rooms!

On arrival I was thinking of cancelling as the outside view of the place makes u think twice.Imagine my surprise when I saw the inside.Clean..neat and tidy....Especially considering its a low cost accomodation.Dont expect the world as you know its not 5 star.The night manager was kind and friendly.Well presented and very informative.Definitely a place I will stay again.Small advise to the owner.Dont let your manager be ao close with guests.Too close i think.She and this one guest in specific shared many personal  information as if they knew each other,but funny enough she took no note of the other guest.She has alot to learn from her night manager.Otherwise like I say for a low costing place it was a very neat and nice place.Last advise,owner needs to look at how he can make the outside more attractive for visitors.

Very friendly staff

I had a great experience the staff was very friendly and helpful, i would recommend Green Elephant Backpackers to anyone visiting Cape Town especially the UCT health sciences campus as its just a walking distance.

Excellent service and great staff

I had a great experience staying at the green elephant. The owner is a fantastic guy (Howard Richman) and the staff are friendly and will help you a lot and look after you. 

The location is fantastic. Near the funky and somewhat alternative Lower Obs main road that has some cool restaurants, shops, and live music venues. And near to public transport.

A great backpackers joint.

We were very much disappointed about the situation we came across. this is not about water, as we  know the situation of water. the main problem is the cleanliness. the helping staff will come to the kitchen even wearing night dresses. in the rooms there was that bad smell. we could not use your blankets that were provided. even in the kitchen, it was not in the good condition.

The atmosphere in the lobby every night is very entertaining my room is very clean as well as the common spaces a little far from downtown but uber solved it Destsco Lucy for her kindness and warmth recommended!

Entertained hostel of chauffeurs.

The hostel has a very nice staff, who were always helpful and friendly. The location of the hostel is not bad, because around the corner there is a bus stop where you can drive directly to the city. Or you can just take a minibus. The WiFi in the hostel was not very reliable and so it had more and more switches. It's also not a normal hostel, because there are a lot of guests here who have been staying very long and that's been going on for a few years. There are also many African guests staying here for a language course. It was still a good time and unbeatable for this price.

Good hostel with good location

Nice drop-off point when you arrive in Cape Town, good location to go to Cape of Good Hope or Boulder to see the penguins. warm home and spacious room. After that there's a backpacker but very good. free Wi-Fi available, very friendly and caring staff. A nice little grill restaurant down Station Road a few hundred meters from the hotel
