Slept here 3 nights in a dorm and cancelled my fourth as I woke up to bad bed bug bites on the third night. After investigating I found (and killed) 3 bed bugs around my bed as well as previously killed bed bugs behind the bedroom's personal lockers (one adult and one larva I'd say, perhaps from a previous infestation that wasn't fully cleared). The hostel staff was kind enough to provide me with plastic bags and recommend a nearby laundromat to heat treat my belongings. They also refunded me some money. Nonetheless I would advise you to stay clear of this hostel until they've had enough time to adequately address their infestation.

Outside of the above, the hostel deserves 3 stars. Location was good relative to Old Town, security was adequate, staff were pleasant, facilities were a little meh (one set of showers, bathrooms on first floor only with steep steps to 2nd floor), and the cleanliness was fine (won't count the bed bugs since I can't be sure when they arrived and the hostel staff reacted fairly quickly when I told them). That said, the atmosphere was quite lame. No hostel-hosted activities, no communal feel, not much for common areas, literally just a place to fall asleep in my opinion. Given that its prices are on par with other hostels nearby, I would recommend elsewhere if you are interested in any kind of socializing. The walls are covered with cute reminders as well as fun messages from previous guests so perhaps I just got unlucky but nonetheless my experience was what it was.

The hostel is small but very welcoming, the staff extremely kind and always available to make two friendly and very professional chats, only defect the structure a little fatiguing, largely rewarded by the very central location and the services offered

Good experience

We stayed 1 night with 3 of my friends. It was a great experience: we loved bright and spacious rooms. Next to the reception there is a nice and cozy common room. We have appreciated a very friendly staff (thanks for the amazing coffee, Casiana!). It is also clean and quiet, plus the hostel is close to the center. WiFi worked well for me. Would definitely come back

Nice hostel, maybe, considering the number of beds, one bathroom and four showers are a little bit small, well kept, clean and organized in a nice and fun way, close to the center, which can be reached on foot.

It's a great hostel.

It´s a nice place, clean and you have a free shampoo, cookies and coffe.
They need more careful with the noise after 23h00.
Is not in the center but you all need walking arond 15 minutes, you have acess to metro and trams.
The street it´s good but if walk alone, be careful at night.

Very cozy place, large hall at the entrance with sofas. Various rooms with 5/10 beds each. Functional kitchen. If you have to find a spot, I say bathroom ip, it's only 1 and if there are 50 people to use it is a bit difficult. As for the staff, kind and available, he gave me and my friends directions on the best places to visit.

Amazing, beautiful place! The rooms are great, the atmosphere is subtle (and great), the staff are great. It's not a hotel experience, it's a hostel experience. If you are looking for a very special hostel experience then you will love Bucur's Shelter!!

Great place!

Such a cozy place with friendly staff! Also the people that we met there were super nice and made us feel like home! The only bad thing about the hostel is the WiFi, very bad coverage! Away from this, the location is close to old town.

Low prices, more than decent service and friendly and available staff. Hygiene is not neglected and the kitchen has all the tools needed to cook.

We stayed in this hostel for two nights for a short visit to Bucharest: comfortable beds and it is very close to the centre. In the bathrooms there was disinfectant available. Everything was very clean. Great price. We were very good. Nice and hospitable staff. Very recommended.
